I officially hate David's Bridal

Just got back from DB and have struck out, yet again, on MOH dresses. I am having the royal purple (regency) color for the bridesmaids and would like to balance it out with a lighter color for my MOH. They had a beautiful magenta dress there, but it was a bit too busy for a MOH...I think it was one of those fancy honeymoon dresses.

Alfred Angelo...are they reasonably priced? Does anyone know? I like the violet color there (Thanks to Nukke's bio!) but I'm not opposed to going with a lighter orange color if they have it. Only problem is my MOH isn't made of money. Has anyone shopped there? What are the prices like? TIA

Re: I officially hate David's Bridal

  • WIth David's Bridal you don't have to buy that exact dress then and there they can order the dress in the color of your choice. Unless you already knew that then ignore this.

I haven't really looked into Alfred Angelo BM dresses but from what I seen in the prices of the wedding dresses I doubt the BM dresses would be on a reasonable price. (at least they are pretty pricey at the stores down here)

  • I found a dress @ Alfred Angelo that i frickin LOVE for the BM's but then found it was $150.00 , soooo yea i'll be looking elsewhere.  From what i saw most dresses where in that range.

  • I got mine from amazon.com. I was worried at first, but my MOH's dress is hanging in my closet now and its actually good quality for a $50 dress.  (MOH lives in Japan, so we couldnt have it shipped to her for any reasonable cost).

They have lots of styles and colors to choose from, just make sure to read the reviews first :-)
  • yeah, the dresses I'm looking at from Alfred Angelo are around $150.00 (but in the boutiques around my area in Canada they're more like $200).  :/

  • I'm going with Alfred Angelo.  For one, I got swatches and violet is ga-ga-gorgeous.  I couldn't find a purple at David's that I liked equally.  In fact, I chose purple after seeing the swatch.  For 2, if they are around $150, they are really only about $15-$20 more than some of the comparable David's dresses (and they email me coupons all the time, which I will gladly send along to the BMs.)  And for 3, and this is probably the most old fashion thing I have ever said, but they have more cute styles that actually COVER THE KNEES than David's.  I want knee length, but slightly below or at least at the knee, please!

I'm having the BMs accesorize in black, so they likely won't need to buy shoes anyway.
  • actually my BMs got their dresses at pacificplex.com (normal places dont have polka dot bridesmaids dresses). you might want to check them out for purple dresses - the dresses we got were amazing quality and i even bought one for myself it was so awesome!!

  • @Underatree, yeah I've checked out all of their colors, even the ones they don't have in the store. I really don't like any of them. My original plan wsa to go with a bright blue somewhere in range between Tiffany blue and aqua, but they had neither of those colors so I chose the Regency (they didn't have that one in the sroe at the time, either.)

Alfred Angelo seems pretty moderately priced if you ask me. I was expecting a lot more since they didn't have prices on the website. Lol I'm sure that my MOH will be able to swing it. If not, I could always help her out.

Thanks so much for the info! This board is becoming more useful by the day! :)
  • I am using Jim Hjelm dresses, and they have a great color palette. I got the dresses for $150 each...yay!
  • I'm pretty sure there's not a Jasmine Bridal around here, or I'd be totally down to go there and windowshop. :)

Everyone says that AA is the same price as DB so I might as well go to AA to get the MOH dress and get a color I don't have to settle for. (How's that for acronym usage? Lol) Wish the bridesmaids would have given me a minute to find AA before they went and bought their dresses at David's Bridal! I like the violet color waaay more than the Regency one they have (and the one I now have) at DB.

Ahhh. The details are bound to drive me crazy.
  • I am getting my bridesmaids dresses through Alfred Angelo. I found the exact style I want, and they have TONS of colors to choose from. The dress I picked was $120 but each of my bridesmaids gets a $25 discount.
I don't know if that is the same everywhere, but it's worth checking out.
    Good luck!
  • OMG! I hate Davids Bridal tooo! It was just awful! There wedding dresses are cheep! And they say they are cheeper then other bridal salons! They're NOT! I got my dress for the same price at a privately owned bridal salon then I would have got at davids bridal! And my dress is better material and made better then the crap they sell at DB!
