Weekend HM in January

My fiance and I won't be able to go on a long trip right after our wedding due to work and school.  We plan on spending the night of our wedding in a nice hotel in NYC (where we live), and then going away the following weekend.  We'd prefer not to spend a large chunk of our weekend getting to the location, and are willing to either drive or fly.  I think the problem is that we've both visited most of the cities near NY (Boston, Philly, Baltimore, DC), and want to go somewhere new.  

Any ideas?

Bermuda is only about a 2 hour flight and while you probably wouldn't go in the water, the air temp should be somewhere around 60-70 and you could probably get good off season deals.

Domestically, I loved Chicago.  But not sure if you'd really want to go there in January!

I think winter trips are beautiful. Aspen, Colorado would be beautiful. Salt Lake City, Utah - any ski resort areas

I was going to say Bermuda. It is supposed to be lovely, and is  a short flight away. You would need passports however, if you don't have them.

Have you been to Gettysburg? We stayed at the Battlefield Bed & Breakfast for one night when we drove to DC a couple of years ago. It's an adorable B&B, lots of history (presumably they have ghosts, we didn't see any, LOL). We had the General (?) Merritt room, which has a fireplace, others did as well. The food was fabulous, the people are friendly.

If you haven't been there, you can go to the museum, that takes about 1/2 a day or so, they have stores & shops in town.

Not sure how much flights cost to Charleston SC for you but we were there last January and the weather was in the 60's, the French Quarter Inn is lovely (4 Diamond hotel), lots of fabulous restaurants, all like 4 star, great food.
