We have registered for lots of Marimekko things that have their famous retro textile patterns originally designed in the 50s and 60s, but probably our most "vintagey" looking thing are our scandinavian embroidered napkins, table runner and table cloth.

  • We haven't registered yet either. FI doesn't really want to but I think it will be fun.

  • Nice!

Matt also does not want to register because he thinks it's pretentious. Try to wrap your head around this: his family does not exchange gifts at Christmas, birthdays, etc. Therefore we doubt that they will buy us wedding presents. My family is contributing to the wedding so I'm not sure they can afford presents. We have lived together for almost 2 years already and have many of the items people typically register for. I told him we should register for some things that we really do need or would like just for fun. I'm not expecting much but weddings aren't about the gifts.

What is your least expensive item?

    Pyrex 1 Pint Measuring Cup

What is your most expensive item?
    KitchenAid® 5-Quart Artisan™ Stand Mixer in Boysenberry

I love baking, but I mix everything by hand -- even buttercream frosting!  Sometimes my arms get tired.

    What is your favourite item?
    It's a toss-up between these two:

    Nordicaware® Dinosaurs Muffin/Cakelette Pan

I couldn't resist the idea of little dinosaur-shaped cakes!

    Onion Pink Goggles

like beer goggles, but for onions!

Most of our registry is practical kitchen stuff, but I did pick out some vintage patterned dish towels:

No vintage items, but I'm convinced that if we get this bar set we'll instantly be Mad Men cool drinking martinis every afternoon (not really):

  •
Wow.  I know we're not supposed to get excited about the gifts, but I would be totally bummed if my FIs family didn't get us anything.  Gifts aren't just about "stuff" they're also sentimental.  That's why you ask for nice things, so you can say "grandma bought me this china set for our wedding 20 years ago" to your kids.  That's so sad.  I feel for you.  :(
    Posted by Nukke
I am definitely going to be bummed if they dont come through. To be fair, we already have a set of china that his grandmother gave him. The difference though is that she gave that to him before we met and it's not from our wedding. It's still nice though.

Question: Where are you all registering? I thought about registering for a few items at least at Target or Crate and Barrel.

  • Aww jealous!! We're not registering until July - the month before we send out the invites. But I really want to register for dishes and kitchen things at Anthropologie! Super excited for that..

Eeva, I really want those cookie cutters!! Moose and squirrel cookies, whhaaaattt!

RobotCake - I just drooled when I saw your Kitchenaid mixer. That color is amazing!

  • Not done registering yet (ohmigod I have to finish. Shower's in 8 weeks, invites are going out soon, HAVE TO FINISH!) but I have a gagillion pics for you anyway Embarassed

What is your least expensive item?
The least expensive things are for the most part requested in multiples, so technically this is the least expensive (single) item- I couldn't resist this little guy at $7!

What is your most expensive item?
Most expensive are our dishes-  $220 for 8 place settings (stupid expensive in my mind, but soooo pretty)

Most expensive single item is this potting bench, $180 (which may or may not stay on the registry, still deciding)

    What is your favourite item?
I can't pick! I'm excited for everything! I really hope we get the Kate Spade vase, compost bin, and all of the fun bright orange Rachael Ray stuff we picked out :)

Do any of your items have a retro/vintage look?  (or are any antiques?)
We haven't registered for antiques, but both of us really like the "atomic" retro aesthetic so most of our items follow those lines, like our breadbox,
