Retro and Vintage Weddings

Instead of a bar what do you think about....

Neither of our families are big drinkers so instead of a bar we were thinking about a soda fountain with a couple of our favorite ice cream drinks like strawberry malts and root beer floats. We're having "Chandra and Ryan's Rockin Wedding" totally retro 1950s. In addition possibly serving a signature cocktail if people decide they want a drink.

What do you guys think is that going too far or is it a fun period appropriate touch?

  • Sounds really fun!  It fits your theme and would be unique. It is perfectly fine to do a dry wedding-- if people can't get by without alcohol for one evening, then there is something wrong with them.

lol --agreed. I'm having a dry wedding, too-- We're not big on drinking, and our families have a lot of members who just recently became sober (and quite a few who SHOULD become sober.. but...)--<div>We're doing White Cherry, Blue Raspberry, And Coca-Cola Slushies for our wedding toasts ;)  I'm very excited!</div>

Nice! I like the idea of having a signature drink as well. One of the reasons I don't often have floats with meals, and that I limit alcoholic beverages, is that neither quenches my thirst all that well, personally. I find floats kind of heavy and would consider them to be more like a dessert (I probably wouldn't eat cake also).
