Unusual Vases

I'm not sure if this is the right board for this or not, but has anyone else collected vintage / antique / or vintage styled vases to use?  I really like these, I'm just wondering if I could make a cohesive look out of these and some others that I have.

I'm trying to go for a 20s -30s vintage opulent type of a look.  It will be small reception of about 50 people. Feedback welcome.

Personally, NMS.  I'm going for regular glass hurricanes with a gold rim and tall ivory candles.  And flowers in our colors around them...  I'd shoot for something more elegant...JMO tho.

i  like the kitchyness of the idea, but it's definitly kitch, this could work though , if they tied in your wedding colors, used simple flowers and maybe some votives

Those are definitely conversation pieces, for sure!  I agree with PP about keeping the flowers simple.  I think the focus should be on the vases.  For such a small reception, I think this could be very cool.

Since oriental/eastern motifs were so popular during the 1920s and 1930s you could consider some of the MANY Japese/Chinese/Egyptian kitchy vases out there.  LIke so:

I was planning to do a single flower type in each vase.

I was partly thinking of the birds because I wanted to use this fabric for table runners (with gold velvet tablecloths underneath and teal napkins.)



And then maybe something similiar to these for votive holders:



Too much?  or unique & interesting?

They are definitely opulent!  Gold velvet--wow!  The table runners and vases together may be quite loud, but I think it could work.  Maybe if you put a simple charger under each vase, or a mirror or something, just to break up the visual space between the runner and the vase.  Your wedding style seems very rich with texture and pattern.  I think a lot of people might find it hard to see before it's put together, but I think I've got where you're coming from.  Those votive candle holders would be perfect.  I love the teal and gold colour combo. 

Is your wedding in the fall?  Your rich colours give me that impression for some reason.

It's in October.  The color scheme started with my dress and FI just asked for no pink.

Those vases are far too busy for that table runner. Now, if you could find vases in the same color as the votive holders that would be pretty, or even find them in another color that matches. If you can't then stick with clear, because that other is bordering being a visual assault on the eyeswith the pattern and the vase. On, antoher note the vase with a solid table runner could be doable. You just have to figure out which one you like more.
