1920s/30s Theme and Color Question

Hello everyone! :) I'm recently engaged and new here at The Knot. My future husband and I know for sure we want to have a 1920s/30s inspired wedding (complete with big band and swing dancing!) and have just recently started discussing colors.

So far, my main ideas would be either:

OR sage green, sapphire blue and cream (I'll try to find a picture with these colors).

First of all, I'm not sure if that's too many colors. I love the idea of a dark/sapphire blue and would really like to incorporate some shade of green as well (since my e-ring has a natural emerald instead of a diamond) and the cream in both would act as a neutral.

I'm leaning more towards my first color set (emerald-esque green/midnight blue/cream) and would like some ideas of how I could work color-coding that and any other ideas with those colors that are vintage-inspired.

Thanks!

Re: 1920s/30s Theme and Color Question

  • I like both, but I really love the sapphire and emerald nd cream colors, they're so rich and gorgeous. I don't think it's too many colors at all!

  • ooh sage and blue are one of my fav colore combos you can totally have peacock feathers thrown in there :)
  • oh i love that color combo and peacock feathers are gorgeous. i'm trying to come up with an excuse to use them in my wedding lol
no it isnt too many colors at all. i dont like things to be too matched, so as long as its all cohesive, go for it

  • I am also doing a 1920s wedding, so please look at the colors Im using on my knot profile pic!  Im doing Cornflower Blue, lavander and purple with a little cream. haha I have a lot of colors too.  I love yours though and would love to share ideas with you!  I have most of this planned out already, but have gotten a TON of great ideas from the girls here :)
  • Definitely look at venues before you get too excited about colors, or start buying things to match those colors.  3 colors is totally not too much, I'm doing about 4, maybe 5!
  • Our colors are green, blue, and silver (plus white and black as accents), so you're good with only 3. lol  we arent even sticking with one blue or one green.  it really does work since we're keeping things simple (each item is one or two colors, not all at once).
  • Sorry for such a late reply. Two exams + dance rehearsal = busy, busy Cassie!

Anyways - Thanks for the advice. I'm really loving the peacock feather idea! I hadn't even thought of that before. I'm going to wait to officially choose my colors once we've gone and looked at the venue in person, but I'm going to continue to play around with some other color ideas just so I have a variety in mind. Although, I'm not going to lie, this peacock feather idea already has my thoughts racing! :)
