Retro and Vintage Weddings

The only way to make the board busier is to post so....

I know a lot of you read the blog Ruffled, and if you don't, you should! Some really great ideas. Okay, so the latest post has a really awesome alternative bouquet idea. So...I am not a huge flower person. I think they're pretty, but the idea of spending a ton of money a bouquet I will hold for like a half hour I can't wrap my head around. I've seen some alternative ideas that I didn't care for too much, including feather bouquets and button bouquets. Meh. Didn't ring my bells. I think I might want to do a ribbon pomander for my flower girl (because I am NOT cleaning rose petals out of the sand after the ceremony) But I saw this idea and I think I might really like it....expensive flowers that will wilt in the Los Angeles heat, not so much, but vintage sparkly flower brooches, YES PLEASE! I'm not sure if it's something that I want to do or not, but I think I like it. Here are some pictures, and voice your opinions! What are you doing for your bouquet? How do you want to make it vintage?

  • I think it's a GREAT alternative to flowers. I'm allergic anyway so I was thinking of going the faux route... but I gotta say that I love it! At least you know the brooches & etc won't die on you in the next few days!

  • Aaaand you could wear them later. You could use family heirlooms too. I'm starting to like this idea more and more. I'm not sure how one would go about constructing this though. Hmmm.

  • i think they are adorable! im going to make a combo of silks and button flowers dispersed within there i think, but i have to try first to see if it looks okay. im really allergic to flowers too and i absolutely do not want an allergy attack and a horribly red nose on my wedding day!

  • ooh I saw these too. i love them. I was thinking of transforming the idea and adding them to my corsages. I love real flowers to much to give up my bouquet. Way to post it up though :)
  • I love the idea, but I don't think it's for me.  I can think of a couple of friends who could pull it off fabulously, though.
  • That's awesome schap! Let us know how it comes out! I'm thinking about trying to DIY it, but I have no idea how to even begin. Probably trial and error. :) Keep us posted on your progress. How many brooches do you need for the bouquet?

  • I made my boquets out of silks and fiber optic flowers. I posted a picture on my bio, but lets see if this works...
