Retro and Vintage Weddings

Look out vintage knotties; we're trendy now!

I thought it was funny that the knot listed vintage weddings as a top trend for 2010. :) At least we've got our own gallery now on the knot page. I think it could use some work though, there were a few good ideas, but overall, it didn't wow me. What do you think?

  • Hmm... damn, I don't like being trendy! Hence my love of vintage, it's already been done! :-P

Just took a look at the gallery, I think it's ok, but it's a little stilted right now. We need to add our awesome stuff to it to fluff the section out a little more!
  • I don't want to be trendy :pouting:  I agree the gallery needs some major pizzaz!!

  • Well, the bonus of being "trendy" is we might get many new brides (or grooms)  interested in our board, and get lots more fun people with great ideas!

And don't worry about the "uniqueness" of your wedding.  Worry about having a great day. :)

  • Not to mention what is tredy on this board wont be as tredy at home. This vintage theme is just in the beginnings of trend. So you will be a first at home and then be know as the trend setter.

Ex. The candy buffet. I have been to alot of weddings the last few years and have never seen a candy buffet at one yet. And yet they are super duper popular on the knot. I went to like 12 weddings the last 2 years. AHHH!

The vintage section is stinky. If you want inspiration I suggest oncewed.com or ruffledblog.com  Once we are all married and our pics are in the vintage section it will be much better :)
  • Yeah, we're all going to rock out that vintage section.  Look at us!  We're the knottie retro/vintage pioneers!

You make a good point.  Wedding "trends" seem to cluster by either location (city, region, etc.), budget, or season of the year.  I'm a second-time bride and I observed this in the early 90s when my best friends and I married (3 weddings in 2 cities within 5 months ... whew!) and am getting a taste of it now.

My fiance and I have such diverse life experiences that our wedding will be quite unique (you may have seen my post re: music from the 17th to 21st centuries).  We're planning all aspects of the ceremony and reception together and we know it's going to be a blast.  More than just a blast for the two of us, I'm sure our eclectic tastes will translate into many memorable experiences for our guests.  I can't wait!!

    Good luck, knotties!
