Retro and Vintage Weddings

I got Dolly!!

I ordered my Dolly Couture vintage inspired dress today. Just spreading my happiness around! Yay!

Re: I got Dolly!!

  • Woo hoo! Do you have a picture?
    Photobucket
  • I don't have a photo of me in The dress yet but it's this one with extra custom details: http://www.dollycouture.com/pink-label/manhattan-short-wedding-gown.html I am having a bolero made which I may or may not wear, and I hand made my own ribbon trimmed petticoat... It should be sweet!

  • It is so cute! Definitely vintage and such a pretty fabric!
    Photobucket
  • Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!

That one is both chic and cute. It's an excellent choice. I'm sure it will be great for you!

Did you pick the shoes yet? I'd love to see what you will pair with that.

OK, I'm going to start thinking of your dress when I scan. But it won't be this weekend, I have a class all day again tomorrow.

I will be working on the gestalt though. Love the dress and the period it evokes. Will percolate.

Edit: first thought was this http://www.shoesnob.com/2010/11/manolo-blahnik-campy-an-instant-classic.html

  • Thanks Mary! Enjoy class, I'm on break right now... Back at it soon though :)

  • I have the same sort of theme for my vegas wedding too! I am wearing hot pink (fuschia) shoes and having that carried through to my bouquet. I really wanted a Dolly but it was going to be too much to get it shipped here and then altered.

Where exactly are you getting married in Vegas? We are doing an Elvis wedding at the Sign.
  • We're doing Elvis at the sign too!! Staying at the Venetian... It should be amazing! Where are you staying? Should I do black shoes since my sash and petticoat are black?Or is it better to match shoes with bouquet?

  • What about something like this if you want black?   This reminds me very much of the shoes my mom and older cousins had from the period. And with the little bit of bling, but not too much, I think it would work with the lines of the dress.

  • Those are very pretty mem! And more my price range than the manolos. I'm looking at those poetic license apple pie shoes. Swoon!

  • I think black shoes would look good :) I really like the ones mem posted! very classy.

We are staying at the summer bay resort just off the strip because we have a lot of people coming and they are more like condos so groups can share accommodations and cut costs!

Which company are you getting married through? I haven't meet anyone else getting married at the Sign by Elvis so I am glad to finally not be alone! lol
  • Ya know, the Poetic ones in black and red did hit me as an option--and I do really like the ones I have in the seafoam. Good height, comfortable, easy to walk in with the strappy thing.

I can't remember the name off the top if my head... I'm thinking viva las Vegas maybe? I really thought Vegas sign weddings were really popular but you're the first other "sign bride" I've met too. We have wanted to do the Elvis wedding for years now!! Are you in September?

Mary, I think we already knew we had similar taste ;) I ordered these today to check them out ( <a href="http://www.endless.com/dp/B004ED7PKM/ref=asc_df_B004ED7PKM1549482?tag=googlecom09c9_endless-20&creative=395033&linkCode=asn&creativeASIN=B004ED7PKM" rel='nofollow'>http://www.endless.com/dp/B004ED7PKM/ref=asc_df_B004ED7PKM1549482?tag=googlecom09c9_endless-20&creative=395033&linkCode=asn&creativeASIN=B004ED7PKM</a> ) I'd like a pair if shoes I can wear over and over again and I'm not too dressy in day to day life. At hOme I'm usually wearing a skirt and apron... Such a homebody!

We are using A Elvis Weddings as I liked the Elvis the most!

I know I thought they were popular too....suprising!

I was the only 12 year old that would tell people I wanted to get married by Elvis in Vegas and we chose the sign because most of the Elvis chapels looked a little too rundown and cliche for my liking. The sign seemed like a great option and we could use our own photographer which was really important to me.

We are getting married on the 21st of Spetember! You?
  • Oh, Annie, those are adorable! And I think a good match for the dress. And reasonable to navigate around in.

I hope you like them and that they feel good.

  • Well they came today... Not for me. Back to the drawing board!

  • What about these
    http://www.modcloth.com/Womens/Shoes/Wedges/-Market-Run-Wedge

They are somewhat similar to the ones you posted. Someone on the Vegas board who has a 50's dress wore these tyoe of shoes in green and they looked fab. She matched her crinoline to them.
  • There is a Vegas board!?! I had no clue. Thanks for the suggestion, those ate killer cute but too high for what I can wear.

Yes!  SUPER nice people, too!  However, not many of us over there are vintage-inspired, so I could use the company! :)

LOVE the Dolly dress!  I'm just starting to look for dresses, so this helps.

  • There is a shuper cute vintage Justin Alexander gown as well....I can't remeber the name or number but I tried to get it here but was going to cost a bundle to get it ordered without seeing/trying it on! Has beautiful applicay (sp?) on the bodice and is a beautiful coffee colour but comes in white too.
    Wait I found it
