Engagment Photo Help

Since Ive never had them done before I have no idea what to expect and my are this Thursday!! (weddings in June of next year but my Fiance will be deployed so we have to do them now and almost didnt get them done at all!! Darn Marines!!) My question is do I come in with ideas or just leave that up to the photog? I picked this photog because they have done a lot of vintage/reto style shoots. I just dont want to get there and have them do stuff we dont want or not know what we are doing. This is our one chance to get these done and I really want them to be nice. Plus my Fiance flys in Thursday morning and we have photos that night and I have no clue what to bring to wear or what he should be wearing....

I would love some help/advice if you have any!!
Thanks ladies!

Re: Engagment Photo Help

  • Yup, wear what you want and search online to get some ideas.
  • Wear what you love and the rest has to be give and take.

If you love your photog's style and trust them then give them the freedom to do what they are trained to do. DO make sure you speak up and throw in your thoughts and opinions. I would just try to refrain from micro managing the shoot because it will not be as much fun. Relax and have fun with it. They will help you get into pose and then you can be spontaneous with your expressions, etc...

    Good luck and have FUN!!!

TIP: Listen to some mushy music just before the shoot (your special songs). It will set the tone & make all of your lovey dovey faces come naturally.

  • The engagement shoot is also a great time for the two of you to feel out your photographer and for them to feel you out as well. Your wedding will be so good because you will have had a chance to work with eachother before :-) I'd keep a few ideas in the back of your mind if needed or if theres a shot you would really like and just enjoy the day together :-)
