Vineyard Weddings

fall versus spring vineyard wedding

I am trying to pick a date for a vineyard wedding.  Unfortunately I need to wait until after my sister's wedding date in June of 2012.  I would love to have a wedding that September or early October, but it might be a bit much for me to expect family to travel to Iowa two times within a couple of months in order to attend both my sisters wedding and mine.  I could wait until September 2013 and still have a fall wedding that will be convenient for family, but that is a really long engagement.  Otherwise I will have to settle for spring 2013.  Does anyone have any advice as to the advantages and disadvantages of a fall versus a spring wedding at a vineyard?  How does a vineyard look in spring versus fall?

thanks for any advice

Re: fall versus spring vineyard wedding

  • One thing to consider is that wineries generally crush their grapes in the fall.  The vineyards tend to look pretty beat up and if they are making wine on site, there is going to be a lot of decomposing grape pulp, which tends to smell pretty bad.

    I'd go for Spring.
