Advice on Mexico

I was wondering if anyone has traveled to Mexico recently, more in the Playa Del Carmen area. I'm hearing scary stories of everything happening over there and I'm getting really nervous to go for our honeymoon coming up. Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't be nervous, a friend of mine was in Cancun recently and said it was just as safe as ever.  I might be a little concerned about hurricanes, though.

I wouldnt be to nervous.  I was recently in both cozumel, mexico and costa maya, mexico.  We felt safe there and it was a fun time and we would definitly go back.  good luck!

I have been to Mexico twice this year...Once in January (Cabo) and again in August (Puerto Vallarta). I have been to Mexico 7 times in the last 4 years and overall never felt unsafe...You will be fine...relax & enjoy!!!

Tourist places are safe, just don't go to border towns, that's where the problems are mostly right now.

I'm biased because I'm from Mexico, but you should check out this article. It mostly talks about Puerto Vallarta but the message is really aimed to travelers visiting all of Mexico's tourist spots.

We just got back from Cancun about a week ago, everything was wonderful. I never felt unsafe. Keep an eye out (just like you should when you travel anywhere), and you should be fine.
