NWR: Medical question.

I'm starting to get worried because I'm a complete medical ignoramus (a 13 year old knew how tampons work and I didn't, yes, I admitted that).

This is what's happening:

I already have a bad back but nothing that will keep me in bed. I tend to crack it, I'm fine. It's mainly my lower back, and it gets worse with the mean reds, but still, nothing horribly bad. However, and this has happened around 7 times now, when I violently sneeze (I have allergies), a bone (...?) in my chest cracks.

Right in the middle of my tatas and a little closer to my collarbone. It hurts. And after sneezing, I can't bend frward without feeling sharp pains. Sometimes I can't take deep breaths because it hurts that badly. If I'm lucky, I'll sneeze again and it will "pop" back into place.

Anybody have any thoughts on what the heck is going on with my chest bones? Craig thinks it might be scoliosis, but I don't know. It happened again this morning and for about 10 minutes I had to breathe with little breaths otherwise it hurt.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

I work on the business side of Healthcare, and as a daughter of a former nurse, CALL YOUR DR, JENNBENN, NOW!!!!

I agree - always call your doc when in doubt.  I'm not a nurse but a nurse paralegal and it sounds like it's something to do with your sternum (breastbone) and manubrium seperating (the manubrium is like a cartilege) - It may be perfectly normal and just a quirk of your anatomy.

I'm just going to throw this out there because I have nearly the exact things happen to me but to my upper back. If I sneeze or if I get lucky to move a certain way then my upper back can spasm. I do know what you mean about the lower back pain and how it gets worse when Bloody Mary comes knocking, but an orthopedic doctor told me I need to strengthen my core/back.

BUT since you're experiencing the chest thingie it could still be a spasm, but I don't know what that popping is. Your lower back and the chest thing sound like 2 different things. I agree going to your doc is the best thing.

def call your doctor. but in that case I asked my FI picked his brain since he's in medical school and he said sounds like more of a muscle being pulled when she sneezes, since it pops back into place and definitely not a bone.

but then he started asking more questions haha to get a better idea. here is what he said.
info like age, family history of any problems
    what type of pain
    does it move
when does it usually happen, day/night?
    does she work out?

lol typical med student right. =)

You guys just scared me (especially Kaila!) lol.

    Lacey, tell your FI:

I'm 22. My dad's side of the family has 12 uncles and aunts, 4 of which have diabetes. My dad does not have diabetes. He is extremely healthy (for his age :P). My mum hasn't had any major problems, except a surgery gone wrong because she couldn't afford a good doctor, her gallbladder was removed. Me: The chiropractor who used to see me said he thinks I might have scoliosis (never actually tested me for it), oher than that no more health problems.
I do work out, I mostly do weight lifting (wimpy ones though), cardio. I swim every once in a while. The type of pain is difficult to describe. It could be a muscle pain, but it also feels like when somebody pinches the back of your arm, that feeling you get, you know? Yeah.

I think that's all that's relevant, right? lol. Thank you!
