And the Search Continues

How easy or difficult of a time did everybody having finding their venues?

I feel like I've checked out 30 trillion venues, and can't commit to any.

Every time I think I found the one, and I'm ready to sign on the dotted line and hand over my hard earned cash, I seem to find something wrong with the place.

It took me over 2 months so don't worry.  I also checked out a ton of locations.

I looked at 6 or 7 locations and every one I loved more than the last. When I found the W it was no question, it was like finding "The One". I think you'll have a similar experience. If not, then you need to regroup and ask yourself which one you loved the most and what about it you didnt like. Is that little thing really that bad?

the was the most difficult aspect for me. took over 2 months of visiting places from palm beach to south beach every single day we were driving somewhere new. it was exhausting but when we found the right place we knew it was the perfect one b/c we looked around so throughly.

dont worry you will find the perfect place and it will ALL fall into place from there

I went to so many places and I just couldn't decide. Just keep looking you will find the right place eventually. But also, if there is just one small thing that you don't like it might make sense to just settle. But I guess it just depends what you don't like, if it is the color carpet in the ballroom clashes with your color scheme, then keep looking, if it is you don't love the color of the sinks in the bathroom, I would settle because noone will notice that but you probably.

We had a really hard time. I got proposals from nearly 50 places and we visited nearly 20. It's tough but don't give up. You'll find something!

We only looked at 5 places. But looked at hundreds online. I was just fed up with looking because we were originally gonna get married in Vegas. We looked at a ton of places there.. so I felt like I didn't need to do a ton of looking here. Like Jillian, when I walked into the Westin, it just FELT right to me. It was THE ONE. And I was sooo happy. I did look at 2 others after that just to make sure and I'm really happy with my choice.

omg we went to sooooo many places... plus everything I researched online. I guess we both had a vission of what we wanted so no matter how beatiful places where we were hesitant. But when I walked into my venue it was PERFECT... I called my FI and told him I FOUND IT! he met me there and he got the same feeling. Sooo relax... you will find it... give us some ideas of what you are looking for between all the research all of us have done I am sure we can help you.

    Thanks ladies.

I know I have time and that I eventually will find it, but this is the one thing I HAVE to cross off my list. I won't relax or stop thinking about it until it's done.

I'm looking for something def. in Dade or Monroe Counties. The prob. I have with all the places in the keys, is that they charge the alcohol per person, per hour, instead of making it part of their packages. No big deal if they weren't charging an arm and a leg for the alcohol. I think every single place I've seen in the keys, I would be paying more for the alcohol package than site rental and reception/food combined.

In Dade I've checked The Deering, Coco Plum, The Doubletree Biscayne Bay, The Mayfair, The Sonesta, The Palms, The Fire Tower, The Women's Club...

Try Bank of America tower, The Links (my venue), Yuca (in SoBe), Coral Gables Womans club, Colonade (I heard they have recession specials now), there are mansions in Miami you can rent out, Grove Isle, Jungle Island, Douglas Entrance...

I actually negotiated my bar package...

What about Miami Beach Botanical Center, Inercontinental in Downtown, Intercontinental West (in Doral), Sofitel, Hyatt Regency in Coral Gables?..

If I come up with anything else, I'll post it. What's your budget per person? It'll keep me from suggesting everything under the sun. =)

I totally understand how you feel.  Venue searching was one of the hardest processes of wedding planning. I looked for a month straight before booking my venue. I did so much research online and got so many proposals.  I never thought I would find somehting in my price range and I did.   Don't get discouraged because you will find it!!!!  :)

Ok, all the ones I mentioned are within that price range. And the Sofitel will negotiate with you by removing things you don't want or substituting things.

OH! Miami Springs Country Club has good prices and I think was remodeled recently. And there's also the Melreese Country Club that just opened in October. Not sure of their contact info though.

I'll keep thinking for you.. lol.

It took me 5 months and about 20 venues.  I learned that I would not find EVERYTHING I wanted but I did find somewhere that would make me happy none the less
