Cancun/Riviera Maya Excursions?

Hi there,

We're going to Secrets Maroma Beach for our HM in April. We'll be there for under a week, so we're looking for one half day activity to do outside of the resort. The last time we were in Mexico we never left he resort, so we're looking for a little something to do this time (but not too far away to take up much of a day).

Experience with where you went and what you did would be great to hear!

We're all for snorkeling, scuba diving, adventure type activites, pretty much anything. We're trying to avoid any "jungle" activities. Last year in Florida we did an airboat tour in the swamps - it got stuck, and my now FI had to help dig it out, as we were the only two clients in the boat. With an alligator about twenty feet away. Thanks to this, we're staying away from any atv tours, horseback jungle tours, etc....lol

Thanks guys!

You could always check out Xcaret

    http://www.xcaret.com/

When we were in Cancun a few years ago we did an ATV and Jet Ski excursion that we loved, and friends of ours went there last year and did the same excursion and also loved it.

We also did a sunset dinner cruise which was very romantic and highly recommended.

Don't write off excursions due to one bad experience, there wouldn't be any gators on an ATV tour in Cancun ;0)

On our ATV tour we were with a big group of people and several guides so in the case that someone would get stuck, there are plenty of helping hands.
  • xcaret is fun but i prefer it as an all day as the show at night with dinner is great.

have you contacted your resort to see which tours their tour desk offers?
there are literally hundreds of tours...

We did toured of the Mayan Ruins when we were in Mexico and I thought they were amazing! There are quite of few of them in Mexico that are absolutely breath taking (not just a pile of rocks). We went to Tulum and they offered a tour of the ruins with an English speaking guide, a boat ride to see the other side of the ruins (how it looks from the coast line because it sits directly on it) and snorkeling to see pirate ship wrecks including cannons and lots of fish! We even saw some turtles!
  • Day trip snorkeling in Cozumel is nice. The Terry takes you from Playa del Carmen and a tour company handled the transportation.
  • We did 2 exursions, Tulum and Chichen Itza.  Both of which were amazing and completely different, highly recommended!
