I've fallen in love with a venue

It finally happened.  After about a month of searching for a venue, after visiting the Spanish Monastery yesterday I just know that that's the place for my reception.  The only thing is I was really hoping for a May wedding and the first Saturday they have available is Mid-June.  I finish school mid-April so I have been really stubborn about changing my date.  I really don't want outdoor reception during the summer months.  My options are:A- Have a Friday wedding (we have family in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach) so I find thisa bit inconsiderate.B-Move the wedding to OctoberBTW, Sundays are not an option because the Catholic Church won't marry you on Sunday's.What do you think???

A Friday wedding will save you money... October will be better weather(usually) If most of your family is local(within driving distance) I see nothing wrong with a Friday wedding. They can do a half day at work or take a vacation/sick day. It is your wedding, so it's totally worth it!

I think this is your wedding so you can do what you want to do. If your heart is set on a Saturday, look into other venues. But if your heart won't allow you to live without the Spanish Monastery then go for the Friday. Like pp said a Friday evening wedding will definitely save you lots of money.

The Spanish Monastery doesn't really give lower prices for Friday Weddings.  Do you think I'll save money with other vendors on a Friday?

I think a Friday wedding for family/friends that are in the area is a lot easier than if they were OOT. Like pp said, if you have your heart set on the venue then dates aren't that big of a deal. October is beautiful for an outdoor wedding.

Spanish Monastery bride over here!! I am having my wedding there this October. I know how you feel. After visiting the Spanish Monastery, there was NO other venue for me..hehe If I were in your shoes, though, I would pick October. Even though May isn't hurricane season yet, it can still be pretty rainy (rained almost every day in May this year). October is still technically hurricane season, but rain is less typical in that month, especially the later in the month you get. HTH and GL! Keep us posted on what you decide. I would LOVE to see another SM bride on the boards ;-)

I think June was actually the month that it rained every day. October is a beautiful month, which is when I will wed. Like Zobo said it would be easier for in town guest to travel, than OOT guests. Since they don't offer discounts, you beng in love with the venue is enough reason for you to switch to Friday.

Word of advice if going with the Friday (as I did) - just don't start your Ceremony until 7 or even 7:30pm if possible.  It will help your guests because they won't be driving in rush hour traffic on a Friday.BTW, it IS a beautiful venue.  We've had Monastery brides on the board in the past - let me see if I can find knottie names so you can look up their bios.

For some reason, all the old knottie bios are not up, but I found this one at the Monastery.http://community.theknot.com/cs/ks/user/default.aspx?UserName=RoseWhite&m=1Check some of the local photographer blogs for Weddings there.  I know Meli got married there and her photographer was Maloman (I think it was Nov. 2007) so you'd have to go way back in his blog.
