yes- cardstock is heavier and paper is just regular and light like loose-leaf.

Cardstock is going to be thicker and heavier than regular copy paper...regular copy paper is going to be like what you run through your printer everyday. If you can go to a craft or scrapbooking store so you can feel various weights of cardstock and regular paper so you know what kind of paper you like best.

Paper, AKA Text Weight: thinner, lighter, frequently used for letters, book pages, stationery, xerox, letterheads, smaller envelopes, etcetera.Cardstock, AKA Cover Weight: thicker, heavier and more durable, frequently used in business cards, book/catalog/magazine covers, post cards, etcetera. The feel of paper, as in the texture/lack-of-texture of the surface on the paper depends on the finish or the material that it's made from, for example linen, which is usually made from linen fibers, and doesn't necessarily have to do with the weight (text vs cover). As far as invitations go, they are usually printed on cover weight, unless you want to do a heavy text weight and back it with cardstock (cover weight), like some invitations that are printed on vellum and backed on cardstock.

Thank you all so much! I now see what the difference is and what I would need to use to make my invitation if I decide to do them.
