Your advice about the Keys??? TIA

If you have been to the Keys lately, can you suggest a good (not too expensive) place to stay for about 6 women looking for beach access and night life? What is on your Do and Don't list for the Keys? Thanks!! ~Rachelle

Hi RachelleI go down to the Keys at least once a month so maybe I can point you in a good direction. Your best bet is to drive down to Key West. It has the nightlife and the daytime activites that will keep you busy. The Keys arn't known for beautiful beaches because they are made up of coral rock, sooo don't be too dissappointed when you get there and its not like what you imagine. With that said, head to Fort Zachary Taylor, there is a long stretch of beach that is pretty decent. If you have any furry friends tagging along, Smathers Beach is very dog friendly. Key West itself is very dog friendly. If you have an extra day to spend, a little drive north will take you to Bahia Honda State Park, that is the nicest beach in the Keys. For Accomodations, I would recommend staying at a Bed & Breakfast. I don't have any exact places, but they are really cute and each one is different and have different prices. You can prolly find one for $100 a night. Check out www.tripadvisor.com for reviews and prices of each one. Try to get one close to Duval street(where all the bars are), because walking to your room after doing a night on Duval Street can be a challenge. :)

Seconding Bahia Honda Park...the beach is gorgeous and not many tourists are there on any given day, and the snorkeling is fantastic. If you do snorkel, just make sure you're a strong swimmer...the current coming around from the old bridge can rip through there at times. In terms of eats, definitely check out Blue Heaven in downtown Key West. The atmosphere is great and the shrimp melt is mmmmmmmmmmm...The Fish House in Key Largo is also very good, especially if you like your Key Lime Pie on the sweeter side.
