Do you think...

sorry I am posting like mad, I am just trying to be productive today :)Do you think you could get a regular catering company to make paella or should you just stick to the companies that specialize in paella? I guess I am asking if it is a hard thing to make???

Not sure on that one, my guess is maybe not b/c of the very large pan that is used. I am curious, why you are trying to avoid a paella company? Are you worried they may not have other things to make or serve like appetizers or dessert? My FMIL used a paella company for our e-party and everything was wonderful. Hours d'ourvs (sp? sorry!) salad, dessert oh yeah and paella. I can give you more info if you like. HTH

This was my initial idea for food- just something different and yummy! I did (3) tastings--- 2 were with Paella companies and 1 was a regular caterer. The paella companies were better tasting. Its not a hard thing to make but it's a process and it needs specific ingredients so you get that "Paella" taste rather that just yellow rice and seafood. My best advise is to definitely do tastings before making a decision with a paella. HTH!

Our caterer did not specialize in paella, but made an incredible one, so I don't think you necessarily have to stick to companies that specialize in it. You may, however, feel more comfortable with a company that does so.  Paella is relatively easy to make though. Are you thinking of only doing paella?  If so, then I would stick to a paella company.  But if you are thinking of having other foods, I would consider checking with more general caterers to see if they do it as well.
