Centerpiece Advice

Hey girls!!! My budget doesn't really allow for elaborate floral centerpieces and that's fine because I am not a huge flower lover. I do like Roses though and since our color scheme is white and black with pops of red, I figure red roses will look really nice. However instead of doing a rose bouquet centerpiece I am thinking more along the lines of a glass hurricane candle holder with a white pillar candle and some red rose petals inside around the base of the candle... I worry though if this is a huge fire hazard? I guess I could do some black stones or pebbles instead, but I think red rose petals would look really neat! I will also have a whole bunch of loose rose petals on the tables with some votives and then the table signs would be in a silver frame. What are your thoughts on this? Or, does anyone have any good suggestions for me or pictures they can share? I found a picture similar to what I am looking to do... Is this nice or cheap looking? I love the silver tray with rose petals all around the outside of the candleholder... perhaps this is a better idea than putting the petals inside with the candle? I think that's sounds lovely and I like the look in the photo only I'd go for a taller candle holder maybe. Just for a bit more drama but otherwise, It sounds lovely and should be budget friendly while complimenting your color scheme!

if you are worried about a fire hazard what about adding some water to the vase and having the petals kinda float? perhaps a floating candle? Although I dont think you will have an issue with fire considering the cnadle with prob be quite larger than the level of the petals

That defintately works and I don't think you should worry about the petals and fire.Something to consider.... glassware and pillar candle costs can add up to alot.  If you are willing to DIY them, you can make some small rose centerpieces for less or the same price.  Roses and carnations can be really cheap from a flower wholesaler.  These roses are from my garden in $1 square vase from the Dollar Tree....http://www.dollartree.com/floral-decor/Wholesale-Bulk-Candles-Holders-Votives/Square-Cut-Glass-Votive-Holders/202c205c205p32572/index.proI just trimmed 10 roses to the size of the vase, put some rocks on the bottom for stability and stuck the roses in.  Then, I just covered the vase in a thick black ribbon.Add in 4-6 votives and tea lights (get them from ikea or another knottie).  Throw some extra petals on the table and it will be great.

To add to my decor, I am doing something similar to your candle idea. I had the same fire hazard concern, so I tried it out a few days ago with this vase from the Dollar Tree... http://www.dollartree.com/floral-decor/vases-bowls-containers/7-inch-Jardin-Glass-Vases/202c203c203p294228/index.pro and I added a mini pillar (also from Dollar Tree) with silk red rose petals (from Michaels) surrounding the candle inside the vase. I let the candle burn for about 5 hours and had no issues. The flame burns directly through the opening of the vase, so you don't have to worry about the vase getting too hot or anything. I think you'll be ok no matter what size candleholder/vase you use. My centerpiece was just like that and aslong as the hurricane glass cover the flower you should be ok. My candles were lit for 5 hours nad it didnot light on fire. My hurricane candle was surrounded by flowers greens and it even had a stick with the table number attached to it. No worries you should be ok.
