+1 phone calls!

So invitations went out on monday and the phone calls are already coming in for the +1! Not cool! Why! I'm sticking to my count as long as I can. I hope I don't break down.

I don't get it....I would never have the guts to call the bride and ask that. Stay strong!

I'm with Morgan. I wouldn't call and ask "Can I bring my ...?"I'm very scared of unplanned +1s, so I'm writing on the RSVP cards "2 seats have been reserved in your honour" <<< idea from this board!

wow, sounds like no matter what this ALWAYS happens. I am anticipating it with one or two people who I have decided if they ask, I'll probably let them bring someone but I still think it's insane how much this happens! Wow! Good Luck hon!

we wrote in the number of guests on the RSVPs and it REALLY helped. 1-2 people RSVP'd no b/c we didn't give them a guest, but i didn't want them anyway! stick to your guns girl!

I've been dreading this too! I am foregoing RSVP cards to be a little more environmentally friendly and going with an online RSVP -- and therefore cannot write in a predetermined number! After reading of everyone's troubles, I want to add something in there like "As much as we would like to accommodate everyone's guests, we are on a tight budget..." but I don't want to phrase it the wrong way. Any suggestions as to how I can be as polite as possible while still saying DON'T WRITE IN GUESTS THAT ARENT INVITED??
