Re: milan italy

  • I've been.  It's nice, but it has a lot more "big city" vibe than other places in Italy.  There's some amazing art, architecture, and history, but it's very fast paced.  I'm not saying don't go, because it's a great city, and can be a lot of fun, but I wouldn't consider it the most romantic Italian destination.  If you're looking for a more romantic Italian city, I'd suggest either Florence or Venice.  Or Cinque Terre, if you're more into beautiful scenery than shopping!
  • I agree with the PP....it's definitely busier than some of the other cities and while I liked it okay, Milan was honestly my least favorite city in Italy.  I LOVED Florence and Rome and also adored some of the smaller towns like Assisi, Brescia, and Padua.  They're much more romantic and feel more authentic Italian IMO.  I wasn't a huge fan of Venice and Pisa was fun for a short day/evening trip, but it was kind of a tourist trap.  I highly recommend Italy in general though...I loved it!  I just wouldn't spend too much time in Milan alone...but that's just my opinion!

  •  I really was surprised how much I enjoyed Milan with my girlfriends.  Yes, it's not as "romantic" as some of the other cities in Italy, but it's still nice and a lot of fun.  There's great fashion, tons of good food and there are still some cultural things to see like DaVinci's "The Last Supper" (make sure to buy tickets way in advance) and attend a show at the famous Opera house. (They have classical music concerts as well there).

Plus, you can always do a day trip to places like Lake Como (I think George Clooney even has a place there?)  Good luck with planning!

  • Yeah, I'm not an overall fan of Milan.  It's kind of boring.  But like other people said, you can head up to different places from there as well.  Verona is a recommendation.
  • moving  here in feburary just curious but  i think  we are going  to  go to bora bora for the honeymoon.
