Anyone have tips for working out your arms? I hate how mine look in pics and I am dreading the fat arm photo in wedding pics. TIA!

After reading your post, I checked my arms and noticed that the flab exist with me too. I'm definitely gonna consider working out my arms to. FI is like a drill sargeant(sp) so I wouldn't dare ask him. I'm totally following this thread. Alissa, I feel your pain girl.

The pilates I am doing is supposed to help that. I just did it again this morning after being sick for a week. Still coughing but I didn't want to wait any longer. My co-worker is 48 and her flab is nice lean muscle now. I got it at Target. I hate it... cause it hurts and makes me shake. http://www.gaiam.com/product/id/1026012.do

Tricep exercises. Hold a free weight with both hands behind your head and lift up. Also kickbacks...hold a free weight and extend your arm backwards. Starting at your shoulder, "kick" your arm backwards and squeeze. (I hope I am being clear) The dreaded pushups and dips. Another one, hold your arms straight up next to your ear with a free weight, then bend your arm at your elbow down in front of your face, then back up straight again, then down behind your head. Like criss crossing in front and back of your head.HTH. If not I'm not clear, I'll show you next time I get to see you :)

take a chair. sit on it..then with your hands holding the seat slide off of it. (so now your butt is basically in front of the seat in the air..knees bent of course) and lower. bending the elbows. come up again...and repeat. i think its called dips. its supposed to work out your triceps.or you can do tricep extensions..which is arms up holding a dumbell over your head then lowering it behind the head. bring up and repeat.the stronger your triceps, the less of the dreaded arm flap thing that us women are so prone to having.

Push ups.  Doing them even at angle in the shower helps too.

Alissa! You sexy thing :o)   I do mostly what Jill does. So far I've seen big improvements in just doing pushups alone! Also, cardio. My arms are more defined when I'm running too :)

I have to agree,  especially with push ups.  They work out all over your body, too.  I started this workout P90X that is amazing.  I did it last year and saw a huge difference in a month.  They're a dvd set that each lasts 60 min.  All I bought were adjustable weight set at Target and the elastic bands.  I think they're expensive off their website but I got them on ebay for $50.  I can't rave enough about this workout!

Hell yea those will make you sore J! haha I can barely lift my arms when I am done with those! Agree with Tess, incorporating cardio will lose the fat, while these exercises will tone up muscle.

Haha it's so funny that you bring this up!! I've been stressing this lately since pretty much the only party of my body people will see when I wear my dress are my arms and shoulders!! I have been doing cardio and then weights/machines just for my arms. The thing I'm finding the most helpful is what my fiance informed me is called "Skull Crushers". You're supposed to do them lying down with a barbell but you can also do them standing up with a dumbbell. It works your triceps REALLY well. You take a 15-20 lb weight and lift it up and down behind your head. So basically I pick it up the dumbbell and set it on my shoulder vertically. Then I take one end (one of the weights) in both of my hands and bring it behind my neck, still holding it vertically, so that the dumbbell is behind my neck and both of my elbows are facing forward pointing up and out (Basically put your hands on the back of your neck like you being frisked by a cop -- now do that with a dumbbell). Lift the weight until its horizontal above your head and then bring it back down to the original position. I do 5 reps of 5 or 3 reps of 8. By the last 5 you should be almost unable to life it anymore. That was probably a horrible description, but I have really seen progress with this in particular!!
