Bridal Shower

I am getting married in November 2010.  We are having about 200 people (mostly family) join us in my parents backyard for the ceremony and reception (cocktail party). My mother, his mother and my MOH all think that I should have a bridal shower. The problem is we will be moving in with his mother for two years. Do you think a bridal shower is necessary? In my opinion bridal showers are a gift giving opportunity. Would it be silly to register? I think I would have to put the gifts in storage. Please let me know what you think..Melissa

    I'm doing a gift card only shower. I told my guest if they didn't feel comfortable with gifting a card, then they could just bring something fun.

    i did the same. i had been living with him already so really didnt need anything. so everyone just brought lingerie and gift cards. it was better than opening 3 toasters and towels!!
