Insuring your ring?

Better late than never...I am finding out about insuring my ring. I don't have home owner's insurance so my car insurance company let me know that I would need to get Renters Insurance to be able to insure my ring. Is anyone familiar with this? They are sending me a quote now but I figured I'd ask my knotties! Email me if you don't want to share in the post-- marie7381 at gmail dot com. Thanks in advance!

Definitely insure your ring! We had mine appraised and then sent that info to the insurance company. We have all-state and I don't know how much we're paying cause Scott gets the bill. Sorry. I know we didn't have to go crazy with the renter's insurance though. But... he did get a discount on his auto insurance since he's spending more money with them.

Typically a renter's policy will have to have a rider attached to it for high-priced jewelry. You can also look at just getting a jewelry policy on it. That's what we did through the store where we bought it before it kicked in on our homeowner's.

I dont have homeowners either (I wasnt aware I could add a rider to my auto poilcy), but I used Jewelers Mutual Insurance and they gave me a pretty good rate. All I had to do was send in my appraisal.

I used State Farm but I was getting renters with them any way so not sure if I would of had to get renters to get the ring insured.  I gave them an appraisal and they took a picture of my ring too.

Jeweler's Mutual as well.  Sometimes the homeowner's policy's are a pain to claim.  Never hurts by having double coverage.
