What do you do when...

Your sisters think everything is tacky?  They think that everything about weddings is tacky...a white dress, photography, you name it.  Everything!I am REALLY having a simple wedding (honestly), yet they want it to be simpler!!!  I ask them for advice about anything and all I get is "TACKY, TACKY, TACKY.."They think having a photographer at a wedding is tacky.

Oh Lord! I think that you have to be a bride to understand the feeling, they wont get it unless they are engaged. I wouldnt ask for opinions and just book things... nobody will take it as serously as you do. Having a photographer is extremely important, you that is the only way to re-live a wonderful moment... think of your kids looking and those pictures and even your grandchildren. I still look at my parents wedding album and they got divorced when I was 2! I also look at my Mom and step dad album and I love it.

No offense to your sister, but it sounds like she's overdoing it with by not being supportive.  One thing is to have a difference of opinion and another thing is to constantly trash others' opinions.  If I were in your position, I wouldn't ask for her opinion on anything regarding the wedding.  Ask someone else who's opinions and taste are similar to yours or someone else who is open-minded and neutral.  Perhaps your mother or a cousin?  Your best friend?I can relate to this, but for different reasons that I'd rather not expand on.

Then tell them they are tacky. You know that having a photographer is not tacky, tell them to get over it.

What do you do? You stop including them. End of story. You'll be happier once everyone stops putting you and your wedding down.

Yes, I agree with everyone do NOT include them in anything.  If they are not going to be supportive then they don't need to know the details.

LOL  sounds like my sister!  I mentioned a photographer and she thought it was a waste of money. Flowers?? waste of money lol I just came up with the conclusion that she is just young and too immature, so even though she is still my MOH I stopped including her in the planning. DONE! You always have us when you want some wedding advice...seriously!

I stopped including members of my family as well... and I am enjoying making my own decisions for the most part, but I would like to have a sidekick once in a while. When I am in this type of need, I just come here! Where I find a lot of the support I need.
