Music Poll

Ok so FI and I are huge music people. We have put a lot of effort into thinking about songs to play at the reception. That said, we don't really listen to the radio at all and therefore are clueless when it comes to top 40 stuff... I have a lot of music already planned for my reception but I want to have a few more contemporary top 40 type songs for the guests... The other day, our friends told us we need to play the black eyed peas "boom  pow" or somethin like that... not sure I like that song but I do know and like that one  "tonights gonna be a good night" (I sound like such a tool right now) but anyway...I thought a fun poll would be for you guys to List out 5-10 dance songs you want played at your wedding so I can check them out for myself and get some ideas. AND GO!

Like that black eyed peas song, will give you a headache in January bc its being so over played right now! Know what I mean?!

You guys are too funny! I begrudgingly listen to the radio at work all day bc silence is much worse. Some suggestions:Lady Gaga - Just Dance (her other songs a bit more vulgar but they're all good for dancing) I agree with Black Eyed Peas, everyone loves them. Cant go wrong with Madonna cira 1990's Anything 80's and definitley some oldies for the older crowd Beyonce - Crazy in Love MJ! I remember Vicki posting her playlist and it had some pretty good tunes. I'll think of more, I'm having a blank moment here. Check out billboard top 100 too!

I'm also an 80's fan for dance music! "Pour some sugar on me", "Don't stop believin"...etc....Those are awesome songs to play and everyone sings along

thanks guys... I do have 80's and old school covered... (Music playlist in my bio) but I just was curious about the new stuff. I hate that Lady Gaga song but maybe for the guests I will play it. I'm also anti Kanye BUT... I have American Boy on thereAlso agree with Amy that the Black eyed peas song will be so played out come January but I will prob still play it.My playlist also includes stuff that the guitarists will play during cocktail hour and songs during dinner so don't think I'm THAT lame to think that people will want to dance to some of that stuff... BUT... I def want to have some contemporary stuff outside of the old schol.

Since we are a bit older (33 - hello!) we did alot of 90s and 80s top 40 mixed with some more current stuff.  Lets see, the night was kicked off with Brickhouse and other 70s and that worked like a charm.  We had some ABC and a few other michael jackson/jackson 5 earlier dance songs, blister in the sun, Groove is in the Heart by Deelite, AC/DC Shook me all night long, Just Dance by Lady Gaga, a few new Britney Songs, Crazy in Love by Beyonce.  We ended with Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton and then straight into Don't Stop Believing. We are huge music people too, but kept it to top 40's throughout the years so everyone would dance.   We kept the more obscure artists/songs for the cocktail hour/dinnertime... like my mom knows who Frou Frou is.

-if you like daft punk, you may like Kayne West's "Stonger". -i'm not sure if this is top 40 but it is recent and gets good radio play, Madcon's "Beggin", which is more like rock/hiphop but extremely danceable  -i love beyonce so, "Get me bodied" is a good one. she has a bunch of good dance songs like "crazy in love" or "de ja vu".-i'll second John Legend's "Green Light"-Mary J Blige "Fine", not new but good for dancing.-Usher "Caught Up", also not new but good for dancingthat's all i got.

jaime- i thought you would like Beggin'.    Also, you might like "universal mind control" by Common, it kind of a cross of hip/hop and electronic music and it's danceable.millenia - it is my favorite song of the moment with a close second being "make her say"  by Kid Cudi feat. Common (though this one is slightly  inappropriate for a wedding).
