NYC Weather?

What's the weather like in NYC in November?  So far, the places we've talked about HMing in will be too cold for me in November.  I'm trying to talk him into to a mini-moon for a very special reason before we plan our real honeymoon after the winter.

It was actually pretty warm last year... we didn't need winter coats until December. Typically, it's around the 40-50's - but you don't necessarily feel it that much!

So what kind of clothes do you wear at that time of the year?  Mind you, when it gets to 50 degrees or lower, that's freezing for me.

I think the east coast is beautiful in November. The leaves have turned, best place to go for the fall. I would actually look into the Boston/Maine area.

As far as clothing goes, I layer. Maybe a long sleeve shirt under a heavier sweater. I have a warm peacoat that I wear. You just don't have to be wearing a down jacket and all that.

I think it can go either way. It could be as warm as 60's and 70's or Snowing... The past several years have brought really warm winters although last winter I think they had some pretty cold days. It's a crap shoot honestly but Matt and I had our first date in NYC on Dec 30th and the weather was PERFECT. Prob in the 50's....

It's true- last year wasn't that bad BUT Nov is cold for you! The people who are used to it will call it warm, but note that it will not be warm for you. You would probably be good with a wool coat. You won't have to layer as much and it won't be deadly. You can still enjoy but you'll be cold. Last thanksgiving, it was about 35 already. I remember because we had quite the weekend! :)

Oh sucks.  Below 50s every day is too cold for me.  This blows.Maybe I can convince him to go for 2-3 days.  This trip would really just be to go to a very specific place once a day.  The real HM can wait if we take this trip.  Thanks for your insight, everyone.

Even when it's that cold, you don't necessarily feel it. The subways are really hot, you're usually not walking too far of a distance, and there's always a place to stop and warm up.Where were you thinking of going?

Like everyone else says, it differs... Philly (90 min from NYC) is another fun place for a mini moon. What's your special reason?? this is fun!!
