Ugh. That's terrible. read my blog and search for facial care. I was having the same problems too. Don't switch to so many products, I can tell you that sometimes you just need to stick with one and not move around to other because you break out then too.

Either go back to the dermatologist you saw and let them know it's not working or go see a different one! That's what I did and my skin has gotten much better b/c they put me on the right meds and creams etc... (Doxycycline for a month and then Differen Gel)

I can't recommend products since they are soooo specific to each person, but I can say that being very diligent about drinking lots of water and eating leafy vegetables should help.Well, I guess I should add that at one point in time, I also used Differin, and that helped.

So I asked someone close to me who is in the skin care field.  She said to drink lots of water, definitely use sunscreen with the ingredient titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, if anything, titanium dioxide should suffice. Put cortisone on the spots.  You should go to an esthetician. You already saw a dermatologist and it didnt help. Unless the acne are very deep, full of pus and very nasty, don't go back to the dermatologist. Sometimes we think its acne just because its a lot of break outs. Most likely, the person has oily skin because dry skin does not get breakouts like acne. Need to wash face thoroughly twice a day and double cleanse. Use a toner to dissolve any residue from the cleanser and to close the pores. Always wear sunscreen. Use a gel-like moisturizer and not too much. Use cotton cloths to pick ur face, and only do it when you have washed your face and exfoliated. Do not forget to exfoliate but not more than twice a week since it strips your face. Do not over wash because the oil glands will try to compensate for the sudden dryness and the oiliness with double. Apply cortisone over your bumps, especially after you have extracted. You can leave it on over night, sleep with it.  A very good product to apply over breakout area is betadine. You can also try to use witch hazel as a toner because it's more gentle.Wash with very warm water when cleansing and exfoliating. Extractions after exfoliation. If no extractions, wash exfoliator with cold water. When applying a mask, wash with cold water because it will close the pores. Try to use a product that is for combination/oily skin. If there is a lot of redness and sensitivity, go with a sensitive cleanser. Apply masks whenever possible. Something with lavender and/or camomile since it is very soothing and healing. add a little bit of cortisone to the mask to help disinfect. You're gonna have to be willing to spend a more money on skin care products. It will be very beneficial at the end.  HTH

How long did you try Proactiv for?  In my mid 20's I started suffering from "adult acne"  I tried so many different things but nothing worked.  I finally tried Proactiv and it is the only thing that has kept my face clear. However, it took about 3-4 weeks for me to see any results, so maybe try it again and give it a little more time to take effect?

I've been using proactive for years, but I think my problem is just internal/hormones.  I just started to try Burts Bees brand (http://www.burtsbees.com/a/burts-bees-natural-acne-solution.html).  Its drying out my skin, but I think that's because i'm so used to the benzoyl peroxide and not the salicylic acid.  If it does wonders then i'll be sure to make a post.

I also think that getting facials (if you can afford them) definitely helps. I go to a place called The Skin Institute in North miami,  the lady is awesome and she makes her own products.    I don't know where you tend to break out but I was breaking out a lot on my chin and the esthetician told me to stop using toothpaste with flouride and I haven't broken out since! As well as limiting some dairy.
