Suggestions Please!

My fiance and I have had some trouble figuring out what to do for our honeymoon due to some financial woes a few months back, but after all was said and done we ended up not losing as much money as we thought.  We had planned on staying within the US to make it cheaper, but now we are able to increase our budget.  We really want to make it a "once in a lifetime" trip, and somewhere we wouldn't go with kids.  We both like to be active, so things like hiking, snorkeling, biking and walking tours are great - we're definitely not lie on the beach all day with an umbrella drink kind of people.  I would like to go somewhere relatively warm (we'll be honeymooning in May) and our budget is around 6-8K.  Any suggestions?

Re: Suggestions Please!

  • My FI and I are the same way, we get bored just sitting on a beach.  We went to Puerto Rico last May and it was very adventurous (they don't have a lot of great beaches anyways).  We walked Old San Juan, did a rainforest waterfall/zipline tour, horseback riding on the beach, kayaking/snoreling excursion, etc.  We've been to Hawaii a few times too, which I love (Big Island is my fav so far) because while they have amazing beaches, there's also lots of adventure if you want to too.

Like kd said, I've heard Costa Rica is gorgeous as well.  FI and I would love to go to Belize and Australia too.

  • I agree that Costa Rica sounds like a good match, or maybe Hawaii?

  • Costa Rica, Belize, Hawaii, St Lucia... those are the 4 off the top of my head that offer a lot for the active type and would be good for a May trip.
