european honeymoon?

My fiance and I are going on our honeymoon July 2011. We want a beach destination that also has sight-seeing and adventure. We were thinking about going to tahiti, italy, france, spain, figi, or a tour through europe. We want warmer weather, scuba diving, and less tourist/crowded areas.
Any suggestions?

Re: european honeymoon?

  • July is going to be really crowded in a lot of places in Europe.  You could do Italy and spend some time in Cinque Terra.  There are gorgeous beaches, and typically less tourists than the Amalfi Coast.  I'm not sure about scuba there, though.

  • Again, as PP said, Europe will be SUUUUPER packed with tourists (especially in June/July). So I would definitely go somewhere a little more off the beaten path if you don't want a lot of tourists but want to do Europe. I went to Nice, France during a high tourist season and it actually wasn't too bad, and it had some gorgeous scenic drives as well as beaches. HTH! =]
  • If money is no object.... try the Maldives or Seychelles.  Fiji is another great option and is known for their excellent scuba diving.  The European beaches will be packed in July.  Better to stay in the South Pacific or Indian Ocean.

  • I hear there is good scuba-ing in the red sea off of egypt.  Not Europe, but exotic :)

We went snorkeling in Roatan, Honduras and it was amazing.  Grand Cayman had good snorkeling too, and was not corwded when the cruis ships were not in port.

  • We went to Positano (Amalfi coast) for part of our honeymoon this past July and it was super relaxing.  It is a small town so, to us at least, it didn't feel super crowded.  Rome on the other hand was packed.  We also went to Capri which I think was crowded but since we spent all of our time during the day at the pool we didn't notice.  Much of the crowds there are from cruise ships and they are all gone by 5pm or so.
