December 2010 Honeymoon?

Please help! I'm absolutely unsure about where to go for our December honeymoon. We only have a week and I we were looking at either the Florida Keys or the Carribean. I like the scenery of Turks and Caicos, does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: December 2010 Honeymoon?

  • well there are a lot of options out there.  Just a warning if you are going right after your wedding that is some of the most expensive time to come down to the Caribbean.  Not only that, it fills up fast.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Ditto this.  We go to the Caribbean every year over the holidays and it can be up to double the price for acommodations during the week from Christmas to New Year's.  If you're set on going right after your wedding I would look at Jamaica or DR as they're the more budget friendly Caribbean destinations.

  • We are going to the Royal Playa Del Carmen for our anniversary and went to Excellence Riviera for our honeymoon. Beautiful! I have heard amazing things about Royal and I cant wait to go! I would suggest finding a great travel agent! I went through Elise at Beach Bum Vacation and also used Beach Bum for my honeymoon.... They REALLY know their stuff and Elise made some great suggestions. I was so vague with what I wanted for our anniv. trip and she NAILED it!

Yeah, our prices increase around the 18th of the month and our 'cheapest' room rates that time of year is $900 per night with a 7 day mininum.  Believe it or not we are booked.

OP  - I work at a high end resort, so do not be scared at the 900 per night.  Just trying to  let you know what to except so you do not get sticker shock.

  • Thanks so much for all of the suggestions! I found some really good rates for Turks and Caicos as well as Aruba. Has anyone ever been there in December?
  • We went to Puerto Rico for our December 2009 honeymoon.  It was awesome.  Beautiful, great weather, decent prices and no passport required!
  • My friend went to Belize for her HM in December 07 and loved it.

  • Ok I was doing some more research and found Curacao. Has anyone ever been here?
  • Ask your FI if he wants sand or snow.  If he picks sand, check out the US Virgin Islands.  You don't need a passport to visit them.  If he picks snow, check out Maine.
