Pyrex alternatives?

So, after always getting emails about the "exploding pyrex" I decided to take it off our registry. It makes me too nervous. I always just deleted the email, but it actually happened to my Uncle the other day. I have used it for years and no problems, but I guess the one time it does happen I will freak out haha. What are you girls putting on your registry as an alternative if you are not doing pyrex? They are so versatile... sucks.

Any glass can get hairline cracks , and with any changes in temp, they will explode. My shower door exploded too. So avoid glass - maybe ceramic and/or plastic.

My mom has a pyrex glass bowl explode on her once. Granted, it was a mixing bowl and probably shouldn't have been heated... I was napping on the couch in our living room which is right off of the kitchen. The bowl was sitting on the back burner of our stove when my mom went to heat up a pot of water. She turned on the wrong burner and after a couple of minutes the bowl EXPLODED. I freaked out and jumped up still half asleep -- it sounded like a bomb went off. But that's crazy that cooking dishes are exploding!! I had never heard of that!

I had a Pyrex explode on me a few months ago...I posted about it here actually I think. I agree with Ana, Corningware is the way to go.

love corning ware!  I have a crap load of old corning ware from my parents and FI grandmother.  I love them!!
