All- Inclusive Mexico Resort Recommendations???

Does anyone have any recommendations on any specific all-inclusive beach front resorts in Mexico?? It needs to be on the West side of Mexico though.. because we will be traveling during hurricane season and I don't want to risk having to reschedule etc.

Our preferences include: a good sized SPA, an in-room jacuzzi, decent amount of a la carte restaurants, activities to take part in, and our budget is around $3000 total for 8-10 nights.

Any resort recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

Check Trip Advisor!  I found my resort on there and we are very excited about it :)  Its nice to see all of the reviews and pictures posted by people who have already traveled there.

  • We went to the Palace Resorts in Cancun. $3,500 for 6 nights - includes airfare and excursions (swimming with dolphins, parasailing, Chichen Itza tour) + upgrade at resort (couples massage, etc.) - We went mid-November (11/11 wedding) and had WONDERFUL weather, with the exception of rain the first night (while we were... in bed...). We had an in-room jacuzzi.

The resort actually messed up our room and we had 2 queen beds vs. 1 king size bed. I was upset and tried to get it fixed and they said they could fix it on Tuesday (or Wednesday?) but by then, we didn't even care/feel like moving rooms. Having 2 beds ended up being great because if we were in the jacuzzi and moved to the bed it would get all wet.. so we ended up having one "fun" bed and one "sleep" bed, lol (sorry if that was too much)

  • I second Palace Resorts. We loved it. Service was excellent, great food, beautiful. We went in April of last year.

  • Now I'm really bummed, guys! My fiancee and I completely fell in love with one of the Palace resorts in the Riviera Maya, but quickly realized it was on the wrong side of Mexico and we need to stay on the Pacific side since we will be honeymooning in October (peak Hurricane season...)... there is only one Palace resort on the Pacific side it seems, but it looks like its being transformed into a Hard Rock hotel as we speak.. and it also doesn't seem to have a huge spa like the other Palace resorts do.

So there was my dellimma in the first place! And since you all love the Palace resorts, I'm even more bummed now! lol. I just really don't want to mess with going to the East side of Mexico during Hurricane season.

The only thing I can find that seems even remotely comparable to the Palace resorts is the Secrets Resorts. However, I am hearing way more complains about Secrets than I ever did about Palace, so that's a little worrisome.

Any thoughts??? Anyone every stayed in the Palace Resort Vallarta, and if so, was the spa as dinky as it seems to be???

    Thanks for all your input!!
  • We went to Mexico in the middle of hurricane season and it was amazing. It didn't rain except once when we were there for about an hour. The weather was gorgeous and there is about half of the amount of tourists.

Also, Hurricanes can hit either side of Mexico during the season however the chances of any hurricane hitting Mexico during the entire huricane season is extremely rare let alone hitting specifically where you are going when you are going.

I think you are stressing out for no reason. It is like saying you don't want to go to the midwest during hurricane season or go to California during the summer because their might be a wildfire. Just get trip insurance, plan the honeymoon of your dreams and stop stressing out.

  • We are staying at Catalonia Royal Tulum. The resort has a spa. I don't think they have big in room jacuzzi but the resort is adults only, has lots of activities/water sports, has one of the best beaches in Riviera Maya. Our price was about $3000 for 7 nights and an all inclusive trip to the Xcarat Mayan park.
We chose this resort over Secrets and Palace because it is more secluded. The rooms are back in the jungle but have views of the ocean. You have a 1 minute walk to the beach but we found it to be the best price and more low key for our taste.

    Happy hunting.

I have to disagree with dazyabbey, my FI and I and a group of friends went to Riveria Maya this past oct(2011) and after much convincing from our travel agent that its rare for a hurricane to hit in oct we decided to book after wanting to travel in Nov( the prices were waaay cheaper in oct) one hit in the middle of our trip. It was stressful and I would never consider taking a vacation to the region again during hurricane season. We did purchase insurance however because the hurricane didn't effect any of our travel and we didn't get relocated off the resort , it didn't cover anything. It was a miserable 2 days that rained so hard you couldn't do anything. FI and I are getting married in Oct of this year and are waiting to take our honeymoon untill hurricane season is over!
  • Lauramae529- Thanks for telling the opposite side of the opinion, as there are always two sides! My FI and I actually spoke to our first travel agent today, and she too tried to tell us that no hurricanes will hit due to something about the hurricane season coming early this early etc. Interesting to learn that a similar situation happened to you... On the other hand, I suppose we can never really be sure and it would be a chance we would have to be willing to take. Not 100% sure yet if I am willing to take that chance or not yet...

I'm sorry to hear your trip didn't go as planned. Your circumstance with the travel insurance confirmed my fear though, as I kind of assumed something like would happen if an instance like that were to occur. Guess it's something that will take some more research on my part!

October is a great time to get married for the weather and cheaper venue prices, etc.. but maybe not the best time for the follow up honeymoons!
