St. Lucia recommendations please

Hi, We are looking to spend about 10 days in St. Lucia, spending half at the Sandals Grande and the other half at another resort - would love to hear recommendations for the other resort.  Thanks!

Re: St. Lucia recommendations please

  • Check out Ladera, Stonefield Estates or Ti Kaye!

  • we are looking into Ladera - have you been ???  it looks so unique and beautiful!  would you recommend one of the three resorts over another?  Ti Kaye was mentioned to me as well....
  • Ditto Ladera. It's a lot like Jade Mountain where the 4th wall is open to the elements and there's a private plunge pool on your terrace. HTH!
  • Def check out my honeymoon location.  www.thebodyholiday.com. Pics in bio.  It was beautful, and the staff is amazing.  It includes spa treatments every day!

  • I have been to St. Lucia three times over the past three years, no for HM but for volunteer work...here is what I can share:

Ladera and Jade Mountain are both beautiful and very very expensive...the cost of the room is one thing, the cost of the food is another. Neither are all inclusive and you will pay plenty for food. This is however true of most resorts on the island, there are very few all-inclusives (although Sandals is so that portion of your trip will be fine!)

Ti Kaye is WONDERFUL.  I know a lot of the ladies who work in the housekeeping department as they live in the village where I have volunteered. It is not as ritzy as Ladera or Jade Mountain but it does have a very very good (and some what pricy) restaurant and an amazing beach bar that is very reasonably priced (I have eaten there tons of times). The snorkeling at TiKaye is bar none the best on the island (except maybe for Anse Chastenet but it is really hard to drive out there so we have never been)...if you want to go snorkeling Ti Kaye is the place to go...also, if you want to take kayaks out and venture out to some very secluded beaches (including the property where I stay, 3 bays away), you can do that...we always had lots of couples come by on kayaks, looking for a nice deserted beach :)

Stonefield's is beautiful too...I have eaten at their restaurant (the Mango Tree) many times and while I haven't been down to their beach I can guess that based on its placement it would beautiful.

If you end up at TiKaye, see if you can get to the Anse La Raye fish fry on the Friday night, lots of fun and great food.

Hope you have an amazing time! - M
  • You can get all inclusive packages at Ladera and Jade Mountain, but yes they are very expensive! But Ladera's a lot more reasonable than Jade Moutain if you were trying to compare the two.Jade Moutain's AI package is called the Total Romance Package.
  • I stand corrected...they DO have all-inclusive packages...whoops...I would say that is new but I might be wrong about that too! :)... But I am not surprised that they are expensive, I know that at Ladera, a local beer at the restaurant is $12 US and you can buy them at local bars for about $1.50 US, even at most resorts they only cost between $3 - 5 US so $12 is a HUGE mark-up...but then again, Oprah did say that Ladera was her favourite spa in the Caribbean!
