Sandals

Hi everyone! My fiance and I are considering Sandals becuase we wanted something all inclusive. The less we have to worry about money on the trip the better.

Does anyone have any info as to why Jamaica is less expensive compared to St. Lucia and Grande Antigua? We've already ruled out the bahamas.

But, I've heard so many different things. Anyone have experience with sandals, and info on each of the resorts regarding pricing?

Thanks!!!!

Re: Sandals

  • Jamaica has a ton of resorts so there is so much competition to keep pricing down. Antigua and St. Lucia are off the beaten path and there is not a ton of adult's only AI's there.  (this didn't come from me, I am not that travel savvy but I asked this of my TA when I booked my Sandals too).
Total fan of Jennifer at VIP!
  • The cheapest one in Jamaica (at least when we went) is MoBay and that's because it's the first Sandals, it's rundown and it sucks.

  • We're planning on going to Sandals Grande St. Lucian.  This decision was made after doing a major price comparison and figuring out how we could get the best room possible within our budget and also researching plane ticket prices.  I also looked at reviews for all the locations on tripadvisor.com.  So my advice would be to just talk to your FI about what you can afford, play around on the Sandals booking site with different locations and room levels, and also look up the reviews for your prospects.  St. Lucia seemed to fit what we wanted the best, but who knows, you may decide that Jamaica fits your ideal honeymoon more.

  • We've been to both St. Lucia and Jamaica. Of the two St. Lucia was much nicer (Jamaica was still very nice though)

I've got pics from both and a review of St. Lucia if that might help.

Sorry our site is kind of a mess as far as navigating the pics (who knew we'd have so many in 4yrs time LOL) but we are slowly working on rebuilding.

I do have a review of Jamaica it's just not on our site. The short of it is, Sandals Negril was nice but not the Grande. The service was good, the room was clean and pretty (a bit old but not run down) the beach was lovely but there is no shade except for a couple of tiny trees. We would get up at 6am run down throw towls on the chairs then go back to bed :) The water was crystal clear and we had a blast snorkeling (right off the beach*we have our own snorkel gear*) we even say a flounder, star fish, sting ray and some little pretty blue fish. We had a great time and will be going back.
  • Pricing at the different Sandals resorts is based on numerous things....but things in St. Lucia are more expensive (on average) than those in Jamaica.  Also, different Sandals resorts have different levels of luxury (all are inclusive but some are advertised as more luxurious and have different levels of inclusiveness).  Question, why did you rule out the Bahamas??  We actually just booked our honeymoon for the new Sandals resort in the Bahamas.....totally cannot wait!!
  • If you are thinking of Jamaica don't do Sandals.  Try Couples Resorts.  Alot cheaper than Sandals and offers more inclusions.  At Sandals you get more if you book the highest class of rooms (butler suites).  Its a class system. At Couples you get the same whether you book an expensive room or the cheapest. Check it out!!  My FI and I are going to Couples Negril for our HM.
