Like Ru3234, we are moving A LOT too but we decided to register for them. If someone gets them for us great, if no one then thats okay too. We thought that the first year we will have a lot of people visiting us overseas so its good to have them on those special dinners :)

I thought I couldn't care less about china. Then I saw a great pattern that I fell in love with and got strangely excited about it. I don't think it's necessary to have fine china at all, but take a look and see if you like anything.

I totally understand about the special occasions and that would be why i want them. I will look and see what I fine. We will be moving a lot too at least for the next 3 yrs so I don't want to be bringing them with us everywhere, so eventually down the road I may just buy some. Thanks for the input ladies!

I was unsure but I love to entertain and thought it might be something I would enjoy ... after looking at some patterns, I decided to go for it

I think they are great to have. We have a brand new set that was left to us from his grandmother. They are platinum and absolutely beautiful! I think it is definitely a beautiful gesture at a nice dinner party. Necessary to have in your house?? Probably Not. But if you find something you like, go for it! :)

Not needed at all!  I actually registered for lots of our everyday dinnerware for entertaining, since we are pretty casual overall. However, I also registered for 4 placesettings of china that I absolutely love for me (DH could care less) and for when I am entertaining my girlfriends (I sometimes go all out).   I should be inheriting at least 1 big set of beautiful china once we buy a home (if not two).

I thought it was something you HAD TO HAVE, and I do want them but we didnt see anything that we loved when we registered and didnt want to get it just to get it. I still want it though :)

we opted for "Everyday China" so it's china and it's that quality but it's not so fancy that it's for everday.I wanted something timeless and classic b/c I am SURE that whatever china pattern we chose today will make us want to puke in 15 -20 years. So I went for plain and simple. We chose a set from Villeroy and Bach. Can't wait. Hope we get some of it!
