Anyone going to Mexico?  Do you feel safe?

We went to Cancun in August. It was great! Completely safe. We used the public bus and it was cleaner then the NYC buses!

We go every year and are going back to Cancun in December. We love it there!

We have always felt very safe and have never had any issues. My sister & BIL have been going to Cancun for over 20 years and have never run into any issues, either.

We are going to Cabo for our HM next week... honestly I was a little worried about it because you hear all of this going on in Mexico and I automatically think all of Mexico is like that. 

After doing some research and having some people talk some sense into me, I am excited about our honeymoon and do feel safe.

We went to Riveria Maya (Secrets Maroma) 10/18-10/26 and felt absolutely safe!

From what I've read, Cancun area is not a major problem spot right now.  Our resort had two different gates to get to it from the highway.

In addition, we did a day excursion and felt completely safe with that too.

I was going to post this question too.  When I was in college I studied abroad in Xalapa, Mexico, and fell in love with the country.  However, the news from Mexico lately has been disturbing, particularly concerning the border area and parts of the Pacific coast.  My fiance and I have had our heart set on a honeymoon in Tulum - some friends just went in July and it looks gorgeous - but we've been a little bit nervous and haven't booked anything yet.

We are going to Tulum in January and I feel fine going. I'll post again when I get back.
It does help to read that so many others are going/ have gone.

I went to Cozumel 2 years ago and felt totally safe. We're going to Playa del Secreto in July and I have no qualms about it. The way I see it is that Mexico relies on the tourist towns in order to keep its economy afloat. They don't want all of the tourists to leave. If you stay in your resort and don't go off of the beaten path too much, you will be fine.

I was there in June and felt very safe I will also being going in January for our HM.

No problems, just use your head while you are there.  I went to Cancun a couple months ago and in the evenings in the downtown hotel zone area it can get a little risky... just be smart.  If you stay to yourself, you will be fine.  During the days, it is like being in the U.S.  It is very americanized.  I've never been to other parts so I can't comment on those.
