Wedding Coordinator?

To use or not to use?? This is something I have been debating over for a while. I am sure using a Wedding Coordinator will probably be a must for the day of the wedding, but do I really need one before?

What are some of your opinions and experiences? Can anyone reccomend a planner for the budget/price concious?

=)

I have a wedding coordinator for the day of.  I didn't want one at first...but then I thought about it.

the last thing I want is to be stressed on my big day....nor do I want my mother or MIL stressing....

with a coordinator....THEY are in the venue area dealing iwth the setup, the vendors (making sure they have everything we talked about in our contract and arriving on time!) setting up the placecards, favors, making sure my vision is put into reality...

all while I'm in the bridal suite chilling iwth my girls getting hair and makeup.

I'm so glad I have a wedding coordinator to do all that....I would be freaking out.

If you need one...some of the girls along with myself are using: Lisette Lauren Events

They are on facebook: Lisette Lauren Events

    hope this helps you!

I was under the impression that the lady we met with when we signed our contract was going to be there the day of to set up, etc, is this a wrong assumption?

Candis....it depends...when we met with the Doubletree and Marriott...both ladies seemed like they would do it all...

It really is not their job.  They are the catering director's/banquet coordinators.

Candis..you need to specifically ask the lady at the Doubletree if she will do all these things...while you can't expect her too...she might be willing...but if its not in your contract, then she is not required.

I helped a friend of mine coordinate her wedding the DAY OF...because the catering manager told her yes to do it all...then flaked out the last minute and only focused on the hotel stuff.  I stepped in...dressed in heels and ran around setting everything up.

    :)

Either way ladies...if you decide to go with a coordinator....search now and make a deposit with them...because their prices go up!  lock them in...sooner, the better it is on your pockets.

average is around $500-$1000.  There might be a few under that...some of the other girls on here might know of some.  All the ones I interviewed were between the above range.  Some coordinators start helping you out 6 months out...some only the day of.

but some will give you more for your money..others won't.

Keep in mind that if you hire a coordinator or planner, they work for you.  A catering manager works for the hotel or venue and their loyalty is to them.

I would definitely hire a DOC because that is just too much stress the day of to be coordinating everything or making a friend/family member do it.
However, the catering manager at my venue kind of seemed like she was going to do the DOC stuff, but I wasn't sure, so I just asked her if I should hire a DOC and she gave me a nervous look and said "if you want to, go for it, but I am defintely willing to do all that stuff if you want." She's very detailed, organized, and likes to be in control of what's going on. She feels like every wedding is your baby and makes sure everything is perfect and all the vendors are on track, etc. I'm sure not every catering manager is like that, but for me personally, she seems like she's do an awesome job. You may just want to ask your catering manager straight up and try to get a feel for if she would be there for you 100%.
