What Are You Wearing..

Ladies,

I need your help!! Which undergarnments are you wearing under your dress? I'm at the start to panic mark on getting everything I need.. I've been looking at long line bras and strapless bras, spax, slips and i'm not sure what may be best since all of them are completely different and some of them have not gotten the best reviews.

I'm bigger chested, 36 DD, so I'm actually looking for a minimizer.. definitely don't need/want a maximizer so that's why I'm staying away from VS. Any help or websites is greatly appreciated.

TIA!

  • I wil be stalking this thread as I am too top heavy! if you don't mind me asking what kind of dress did you go with? I'm afraid for anything backless and of course thats what I want lol
  • I went with a strapless haha! -  http://www.alfredangelo.com/collections/productdisplay.aspx?productID=f1c41782-8d46-4508-9bd0-8ec2b3ab04f5&categoryID=32e5a88c-cbf1-498f-afcf-dbfca138c5d3&pg=0&colorId1=

I really wanted to get the strapless spax slip but all the reviews i read are horrible so I'm bummed about that and now at a loss on what to do. :/

  • i am actually bigger uptop as well.  I went with a strapless sweetheart dress, which can be chancey for us "well endowed" women.  Reina did my alerations, and the corset bra that she has at her shop was ABSOLUTELY amazing.  It was a little more expensive then I really wanted to spend, but, after I put it on, it was so comfy and worked wonders with the "girls".  I normally wear a 36D bra and she put me in a 36B corset top.

  • Thanks so much! I'm actually taking my dress to Reina because I need some major alterations to my dress. They actually got a bigger size because of my top, and now i'm swimming in the waist and they need to add about an inch so it fits me... sigh... I'm afriad to see the alteration bill from her. I will definitely check out the corset tops from Reina.. If you don;t mind me asking how much did she charge for the corset?

  • Reina had to take in about 18 inches from my dress because I lost 40 lbs from when I ordered the dress and to the day.  She only charged us $190 for my dress.  She also had to take one of my bridesmaid dresses from a size 18 to a size 2/4 and only charged us $50.

She is totally worth the drive and the price!

The corset was like $70ish, give or take.

I have a couple of points, but I'd like to add a disclaimer that I do currently work for VS.
1- VS does sell a strapless minimizer, although I haven't personally tried it on (I'm a 38D but I don't like minimizers- I don't even own a sports bra because of my aversion to them). I would hesitate to recommend it, since in my experience, minimizers can be very uncomfortable over long periods of time- and if you end up even slightly swollen because you're on/just finished/about to start your menstrual cycle you could end up in lots of discomfort/pain on your wedding day. That does not a happy bride make.
2- From the look of your gown, I'd recommend either a strapless long line bra and/or a corset bra -or- a comfortable, supportive strapless bra (not a minimizer) with a high waist shaper. Most high waist shapers come up almost to your bra line however, so that could make using the ladies room an... interesting adventure, to say the least.
3- If your gown is altered correctly you may be able to do one of several things: a) have cups from a bra you know you like sewn straight into your gown; b) just wear a comfortable, supportive strapless bra or c) wear nothing except some modest pasties (often when gowns are well altered to a bride's figure, you don't even need a bra except out of habit).
Also, food for thought, you will probably be pretty tired by the time you get to your hotel room the night of, and your new husband is not likely to be in much better shape... something fairly easy to remove (especially if you have a lace-up gown) is probably a pretty good route to go as far as undergarments are concerned. My FI has point blank told me he's going to end up drunk and will be virtually useless with any complicated gown/undergarment removal that night... not that he can figure out anything tougher than my bras as it is now... I wish they made a snap apart bra- I literally had a nightmare about passing out in my gown & underthings the night of because I was exhausted and he couldn't figure out my lacing- and then I swelled up like Violet Beauregard and they had to cut my gown off me! ... it had better just stay a dream. (sorry this was such a long reply!)
  • I'm a 34 DD and I'm wearing NOTHING but panties!!

My dress has a lace up back with an awesome amount of support. I shockingly don't need to wear anything-- so pumped!

I definitely recommend getting cups sewn into your dress if you have a corset back.
