need your opinion.

For anyone who doesn't know, my wedding is outside, on my dad's farm property. It's under a giant white tent. On the grass. I have in my contract with them that I'm having a dance floor. Which I thought would be necessary on grass because ladies (including myself) will be in heels. However, I was reading on the Outdoor Weddings board, and a lot of people seem to think it's not necessary. The dance floor is a lot of money. Like, almost as much as the tent. So if it's not a necessity, I'd love to be able to get it off my bill.

What are your opinions?

I say def, because I wouldnt want my heels getting destroyed by sinking in the grass all night.

I agree! You really need one, I went to a wedding that was outside too and I spent all night on the dance floor because I hated my heels getting in the grass etc...

You def. need one. If there was no dance floor, I prob. wouldn't bother dancing, since I wouldn't want my heels sinking into the grass all night.

this is EXACTLY what I thought. I feel like all the girls on the Outdoor Weddings board are going to have unhappy guests. I get that it's cutting a lot of money, it really is. But this is what I thought!!

It is a lot of money but I would probably dance a lot less if there was no floor.

I agree with Kaila, plus I wouldnt want my feet to get dirty because of the grass area.

    Tay,

I agree with the other girls BIG TIME!

My sisters wedding was yesterday and, as great as it came out, almost all the girls had issues with the heels and the grass. It wasn't something out of this world but it was a nuisance.

I say if you could find an affordable one, def do it =)

Tay- I was recently talking to someone who had an outdoor wedding, they did not rent a floor BUT they randomly had a HUGE piece of carpet that they cut into a big square and they used it as the dance floor. He said it was VERY successful, I am not sure since I wasnt there, but it might be another alternative for you.

I feel like all of the other girls on the Outdoor board are definitely going to have these problems! I really thought they were crazy for not having a dance floor. It is in my budget, and I was definitely planning on having one, but they made me question it a little bit. But I'm not going to take it off my quote. I need it, clearly. The last thing I want to do is make anyone irritated or uncomfortable at my wedding!

The carpet idea is an interesting alternative, I'll look into it!!

    Thank you ladies so mcuh.

Yes!! There is nothing worse than ruining a pair of heels b/c they are sinking in the grass. It would make dancing really difficult. Don't skip this!

    Hi Eskimobby!

What about not getting a dancefloor and providing your women guests sandals to put on so they can have a good time in?  I think if you want to save yourself some money- you can designate a dancefloor area and do something cute like a bucket full of old navy flops that say "there's no reason not to party!" or something on it.  I'm doing something along those lines so that no one has an excuse not to dance all night long at my wedding, but in your case I think it'll be cute and save you some serious cash!

PS- I don't know if any one else suggested it, I just didn't have time to read all the other replies! HTH.  :)
