Cake Help!!

Hey everyone!

So my fiance and I are in a last minute dilemma.  Our cake lady is no longer able to make our cake and we are now left with a month until our wedding to find somewhere to get a cake and our budget right now was around 250 for 170 people.  Our cake lady was giving us a good deal because she makes cakes from home as well as at her shop so she was giving us a lower rate.  Needless to say we are feeling pretty scewed here.  Does anyone know anywhere we can go or know someone who makes amazing cakes from home or soemthing??? Our wedding is August 11 in elyria, ohio. So we would prefer someone around that area between lakewood and amherst.  thanks!

Any of the bakeries will deliver. I don't know your per-slice budget, but we used Breads and Beyond out of Parma. They definitely deliver and their pricing is right around $2/slice. Excellent cake and buttercream, too.

If you really want somewhere closer, another bakery we considered was Create A Cake Inc, in Lakewood, also very good. I think their prices are higher now though.

    Good luck!

  • To save money, get a smaller pretty cake to display and cut. Serve the guests sheet cakes, no one will know the difference and it tastes the same. Also look at Heinen's and Buehler's, they do wedding cakes that are just as pretty and tasty.
  • try sharicakes.com. she is pretty good. I am getting my FI groom cake from her, she's pretty good.. Wedding cake is from Micahel angelos bakery. they are a little expensive but tell them your budget and i'm sure they will point you in the right direction.. Good Luck

  • I would try Tapp's Cake Emporium.  Do not be discouraged by the looks of their website (I was when I was looking for a baker, but due to the large number of recommendations from various friends and family I checked them out anyway)...I went to six different bakeries in the Cleveland area and they were by far the tastiest (and lucky for me the most afforable!).
  • Try Fragapanes in North Olmsted.  They told me they never "sell out" a wedding date.  Instead they bring in their retired bakers if they have a lot of cakes to do.  Their prices were reasonable and the cake was good, too.
  • Try Clementines in Olmsted Falls.  They are a tea room, but they also specialize in wedding cakes that taste AMAZING and are also reasonably priced.
  • A friend of mine end up getting her cake last minute at Giant Eagle because her baker fell through. She said the nice thing about them versus a lot of regular bakery shops is that they will bake it less then 24 hours before you pick it up so it still had that fresh cake taste.
