Budget Miami Wedding

Hello all! I'm newly and quite happily engaged, and starting the daydreaming, brainstorming, and initial planning for our wedding. My fiance and I are hoping to get married next June 2013, because summer works best for both of us.

We're not sure about a lot of things yet, but we know we have a budget of $5000 for the wedding. We'll be saving another $2000 or so for the honeymoon and apartment start up costs.

So now we don't know WHERE to have the ceremony and reception. I'm old fashioned, so I'd LOVE to get married in a church (unfortunately our church doesn't have an attractive building, but our pastor should be able to go wherever the ceremony is). Anyone know of pretty little churches in the city? But to save money, we may end up doing the ceremony in the same reception hall, if we have to.

For the reception hall, I know a lot of places have great package deals, so that's the kind of thing we're looking for. I've already started getting quotes, but my other worry is that these quotes are only good 30 days and may go up after - how far in advance should we book? Suggestions on places?

To give more background: my dress will be a gift so it doesn't need to be in the budget (so thankful!) and we're thinking Groupon/Living Social for honeymoon deals. We don't really care where we go but hopefully a nice beach. :)

Re: Budget Miami Wedding

  • Churches are super expensive....I almost had a heart attack just looking at the rental prices for churches in Miami. There are some churches I found way later after I booked mine who are affordable. Check out St John the Apostle in Hialeah, Our Lady of the Lakes in Miami Lakes, and St. Michael in Little Havana. In my opinion, St. John the Apostle is very beautiful and affordable (from what I was told). There are some churches which have a reception room and it might be affordable to rent them. However, do keep in mind most churches (if not all) have restrictions on alcohol so you will have a "dry" wedding.

How many guests do you estimate to have?
  • I am getting married in st Kevin for $400 And my reception is in Kendall Reception Hall and I had the most extensive package for a little more than your budgeted amount. They will work with you, and you don't have to get extras if you dont want to. The reception hall is decorated very modern and honestly the people have always been so nice. Www.kendallreceptionhall.com They used to be named Atlantis Reception Hall, and they are on 152 ave and Sunset Dr..worth looking into

  • We originally had an estimate of 100 people, but are now looking at 75 to save money.

Those churches do look cute, but correct me if I'm wrong, don't most Catholic churches require you to be a member there? That was what we were told, at least.

I'm definitely looking into the Kendall Reception Hall, thank you!
