Full payment to photographer

Ladies I wanted to know if its normal for me to pay the photographer in full before the wedding? I know its based on the contract but isnt usually that you pay a portion when getting the final pictures?

for some reason most photog require full payment before the day...i don't know why...it doesn't make much sense but luckily they're professionals who will follow through on their end of the contract

My photog requires most of the payment before the wedding, but there is one final payment after the wedding when we get our album.

I ended up paying my full photog last week (6 weeks prior to the wedding) -- I think most photogs require this (my videographer asked for the payment post wedding which is the way it should be!)

I think some photogs ask for it upfront and others after the final product is ready. Before we won, the photog we chose Binaryflips wanted the final 25% after the final product was ready, which I think is more than reasonable, considering they may eff up your pictures or the camera may break, etc... Then you end up in small claims court. OH Geez. GL

I would check your contract. My final payment is due before the wedding. However, I am not getting an album or anything like that. GL

My photog requires me to pay mine in advance to before the wedding. I agree with pp's it would be better to wait until you get the pictures. But, I guess thats how they ge their money. Definitely read over your contract and see what it says.

Mine is also full payment 5 days before the wedding.  I think most of them work this way.

I paid mine off a few weeks ago it was required before the wedding, BUT I think it has to do with the fact that we did not order an album only the CD and they are true professionals I have no doubt in my mind that they wont come thru.

Im paying my photog before hand.  Actually in 3 installments. when i signed contract was the first and before the wedding day I have to give the other 2 installments

I paid mine off a few weeks ago as well.  I trust her so Im not worried.
