BCP my story

Ok so I've been on the pill since maybe 16/17 and I switched to Yaz like 2 years ago. Then a year later I got off. And this past March I got back on Yaz and I practically have 2 periods every month. The first one being very light. So what gives??

I thought I started the new pack on the wrong day and I screwed up my system but it should've corrected itself after a few months right?

I'm wondering if my body isn't the same after I went off of it the first time. Anyway, I'm off the pill completely now(cos I messed up buring my bach/shower wkd) but I'm starting it again at the end of this month.

I hate BC lol. It really messes things up more than it helps, IMO. My doctor wanted me on it because I frequently have cysts that rupture on my ovaries... It's not my choice to be on it, which is why I'm cycling through the pills. Yaz is made for people with PMDD, I mean not exclusively, but it's a different dose of hormones than other pills, and a lot of people have a really hard time with it. So I would maybe talk to your doctor about switching.

I haven't read the other posts  yet, but I used to be on Yaz myself.

It is a very low dose BC in addition it used to make me very emotional (like abnormally so) and all my friends on it had the same side effect.  Secondly, there have been a lot of serious side effects to the point that there is a class action lawsuit against them right now.  So just be careful.

It might be too low a dose for you which would explain the spotting.

Yaz is a really lose dose of hormones; one of the lowest on the market. How long were you on it for? Break through bleeding can happen for the first 1-3 months your are on the pill. If it continues after that (or if your bleeding is heavy and longer then five days ) consult your doctor.

Yaz is a low dose - it's just different from other pills because it's targeted for people with PMDD.

All pills with control PMDD. Yaz is a low dose combo pill (drospirenone/ethinyl... verses any other two synthetic combos) that was approved by the FDA to be marketed to women with PMDD. All Yaz is doing (like most BCPs) is eliminating your pre-menstrual symptoms.

Hmm, I'm on yaz now and I have been more emotional since, I thought it was because of the wedding.  I'm not going to switch now though, we plan to get off in February to try to make a baby =)
    Sorry you're going through this.

The reason I chose Yaz was because it helps in keeping clear skin. It really helped me in that dept for sure. I guess I can say I've been psycho emotional too.hmmm

Tiffany-Good point about it being a low dose bc and that could explain the spotting. I'll have to let my doc know.

Tess- I was on it for a couple years maybe up until 2008 then I got back on it this spring. That's when the trouble started and I just got off of it again last month.

BC is just a pain in the a-s-s

if you're looking for clear skin, ask your doctor about "ortho tri-cyclen lo".  i was on it for about 4 years and it helped keep my skin clear.  i had the same basic side-effects most people have with bc: nausea the first 3 months, and lower than normal libido

Thanks I'll ask about that at my next appt. Something has to change.
