Reception venue question

Hi guys!

I have some questions regarding some reception venues. Since I am taking the summer off from school, I want to get as much done as possible during these next 2 months.

Have any of you guys had any experience with the following places?:
-Firefighters Memorial Tower
-Miami Sky Tower
-The Banker's Club of Miami

I love the view the last 2 have of Miami! I'm trying to stay on a budget ($4k including everything for the reception at the VERY max for 150 people. I know it's not a big budget, but it's what I have to work with) so these may be out of my budget range. Any other venue ideas are totally welcomed in the Miami area.

The reception venue my uncle was going to help us get did not go through so I'm back to square one :(

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Reception venue question

  • Wow thats a very small budget. We are spending 4k and we thought only inviting 30 people would fit that budget! And were having it all in a park!! But maybe im totally off in these figures

    Well anyway, good luck!

  • I agree with the PP. You may have to limit your guest list dramatically if you need to stay in budget. Have you considered doing it at a restaurant?

  • I cannot change my guest list for a lot of reasons. We have already reduced it to the bare minimum we can have considering that our close families are HUGE. My family is willing to contribute financially, so maybe we will have more than 4k to play with, but I am planning what we can afford on our own. I know a lot of people in the party planning/event coordinating industry (I used to work for catering companies, but for very fancy schmansy parties so any of those venues are out of question) so I can get rental equip and catering (food wise) relatively cheap if outside vendors are allowed.

  • Outside food vendors are not permitted at the Banker's Club. I will say the Sylvia, the contact at Banker's Club, is very nice!I

If you are looking for venues who allow outside vendors (which are to find) check out three places I know which will allow you to bring in all your own vendors without restricting yours to theirs.

    - The Ronald W. Shane Center: It is right next to the water and it's a great view. The reception is huge and fits more than 200 guests. You can def bring in your own catering. This venue is located in Miami Beach.

    - Palmetto Bay Village Center: It has two location to use from but I would recommend the smaller site for you since the 2nd one is super HUGE. It's half inside and out. Free to bring all your own vendors.

    - Thallatta Estate: It's right next to BIscayne Bay which their ceremony space overviews the water ($300) and the entire venue is outdoors. It's a beautiful outdoor space and you can bring in all your own vendors as well.

    - Pinecrest Gardens: The rental fee is budget friendly and I believe you can bring in your own vendors (double check). The only downfall of this place is that your wedding needs to be a day wedding....not at night. It is beautiful and if I were having a Sunday morning wedding I would've booked there.
  • Perhaps you can consider restaurants as an option, as you won't have to consider catering/rentals and chairs.

  • If you are looking in the Miami Downtown area check into The Wind's (condo building) community room. It's an all white beautiful ballroom. I expect that it can't be too much and you could get your own caterer.
  • I live further north then you are looking so don't have any suggestions for venue but we also had a max amount of 150 people and had a very small budget for reception. We decided to do a cocktail reception with heavy apps, a siggy cocktail, beer, and wine. It was a HUGE success! People complimented us so much on how different it was and so forth. We had the ceremony at 2pm with the reception immediately following at the same venue. The place was darkish with uplighting so people partied like it was a Saturday night wedding. GL with the planning!
