Vendor rant: Americaters

I just thought I would do my duty to all other knotties and post about my experience with the vendor Americaters.  I spoke with an Americaters representative on the phone and she set up a tasting.  She asked that I sign a contract and send in a 20% deposit to hold the date.  On that contract, it said that deposit would be refunded if I cancelled the contract.  At the tasting, the food sucked and the chef did not know how to prepare the basics.  So we decided that we wanted budget but not crap.  I cancelled the contract and guess what- he would not refund my deposit!  This guy is not quality in food or in person.  Stay away!  Another more quality budget option is eventsonabudget.com who will provide a free tasting and consultation without the hassle of having to go through small claims to get your refundable deposit back!

And by the way- the wedding coordinator who works with Americaters- Nora Salario- is a total flake.  She set up the faulty contract and now won't refund the deposit I paid her either.  Stay away from them brides-to-be!

Good luck working with Americaters, Shoegirl.  I know they are trying to repair their reputation after all their recent problems.  I hope they give you what you want and don't make your wedding planning a nightmare like they did for me.  No vendor should ever make a bride take a problem to a legal level when it could be resolved amicably.  Afterall, she should feel special and cared for- so I hope you feel that way.
