Florida-South Florida

My first vent...

So this weekend my FI, mom, and I are going to look at venues all day saturday and half the day sunday. I dont know if it's because I just finished my first semester in grad school but I am so tired that all I want to do is go lay on the beach and do nothing the whole weekend but I'm not looking forward to it. I know I should be excited about seeing all the different places but I'm not because I know none of them are exactly what I'm looking for. I'm so particular that I dont think there is any place in florida (in my price range) that has the garden/intimate modern setting that I want. All the places are either country clubs or just perserves that I need to provide everything at. I know I'm rambling but I just hate that I might not get what I want. AND on top of that my mother has told me she'd be willing to put in $5,000 extra towards the wedding if my FI parents do (which I dont think they will). So now I know that my parents can afford a little more but might not get it. It's like dangling a carrot in front of a horse!

Anyways, I hope everyone has a good weekend and enjoys this great weather we're having. Sorry about rambling on about nothing...

Hang in there - sometimes seeing photos of venues on their websites is really deceiving and they look so much better in person!  Your dream venue might be on your list and you just don't know it yet.  I actually had the reverse problem where I thought I knew my dream venue and when I went there I was disappointed.

So good luck this weekend!  You will get more excited and into it once you start seeing the places and envisioning the possibilities.

And maybe (probably) your parents will still give you that money - they are prob. just dangling it to get your FI's parents to help to lower the financial stress for everyone.

Either way, your wedding will turn out gorgeous, so try to enjoy your weekend and not stress out too much.

Thanks for the advise. I'll try and go to each venue with an open mind :)

Hey! I understand how you feel... sounds like a similar situation to mine! I'm planning the wedding from Tallahassee and am coming down in 2 weeks to look at venues and most places that I like are out of my budget. I wanted an intimate garden or waterfront venue... one place I'm going to look at is The Palms Hotel in Miami Beach. It's a boutique hotel so its not a huge chain hotel and it looks to offer a more intimate feel. They offer lunch and brunch receptions that are really reasonable! And they have a beautiful wedding gazebo and lawn area, I haven't seen it in person yet, but from pictures and what I've seen so far its really nice! Miami Beach Botanical looks really nice too! Or if your looking in Broward, Pelican Grand is awesome! I'm looking at those places as well, good luck :)

Sometimes you can talk venues down. It's always worth a shot. Hope you feel better and it never hurts to look at all your options.

I was going through the same thing when I was looking a venues. The one I picked was my favorite but still had a couple cons, but the cons were workable. So I never found my "perfect" venue that had it all (in my budget too) but found one that got me excited. So don't worry, it's out there! You're almost there!
