hotel blocks

Hi pretty ladies,
Hope those of you celebrating had a very merry Christmas!
I know this may be a stupid question but how many rooms did you reserve under a special rate in the hotel/s for your guests? I am having approx 150 guests, many of which will from our of town. I guess I should do a rough count of how many out of towners there are?
Also, any tips for when I call the hotels?

TIA
xoxo
Gabi

I am going to count the people i know for sure will get a hotel room and then maybe 5 to 10 extra. you are responsible usually for the rooms you have set in a block so be conservative.  Work with your venue though. The one i'm interviewing said that if I went over, as long as they booked a couple months a head of time they would be able to get the same rate.

Where are you looking to book?...

I have a 100 people, a lot of which are local.  I booked 20 and I'm thinking I'll add 5 more, if they all are booked  You don't want to get stuck with a lot room left, because that is where they get to charge you extra.  Don't book too many, you can add more as they fill.

we are using the marriott at boca center and you are not responsible for the left over rooms. we have 80% out of town we started out with 25 rooms and will just build from there.

Thanks for the help...Hmmm well I definately don't want to be held responsible lol!!
My wedding is at the Aventura Jewish Turnberry center and I was looking at the Marriot Residence Inn (10 minutes walking distance) and then possibly courtyard marriot or one like 10 minutes driving distance from the beach (possibly Double Tree Ocean Point)

Our hotel held 10 rooms in our block and we can add more later as needed.  We are not responsible for any rooms held and not booked either.

We have 75-80 guests and about 45% of them are OOT (but my FIL has a house in FL so lots of them will be staying there).

I only held 10-15 rooms for now. It's a "courtesy hold"
