I'm watching Say Yes To the Dress - Atlanta and a bride's budget is $1500 and they said that basically at that price point, they don't have a dress for her. WTF?
I mean, sure, there are plenty of dresses out there that are well over $1500 but that is not a low budget for a dress, IMO. As a bride walking into a bridal salon and they tell you they can't find you a dress for that price, that kinda ruins the appt for me, no?
The lady keeps saying that she has Champagne taste and beer budget. I'm sorry, maybe I'm wrong, but $1500 is not a beer budget. Maybe box wine or cider, but certainly not beer! lol
Seriously!
Re: Is $1500 a low dress budget?
I watched SYTTD before I ever got engaged and I was so freaked out about affording a wedding dress, thinking that anything less than $5k would only get me a piece of crap. I was so nervous at my 1st appt. with my $2000 budget I kept asking the lady who was helping me how much the dresses were b/c I was scared I was trying on dresses I couldn't afford. She started laughing and told me that very few stores carry those crazy expensive dresses and that I would have no problem finding a beautiful dress within my budget. She was right, I never ran into any crazy expensive dresses like those (and I went to tons of bridal boutiques) Did you see the one a few eeks ago with the $21,000 dress? It was sssssssooooooooooo ugly!w
Don't fear!! There are plenty of beautiful gowns at that price point and below. You should be able to find something you love.

My budget was also $2K and I found a beautiful dress for $1800. Granted, the one I originally wanted from Jim Heljm turned out to be $5K, but there was no way! That's half my original wedding budget.
I fell in love with Maggie Sottero dresses and their fit. They fit the body so nicely, even for a plus size like me.
This is my dress. I got it with the lace bolero and the flower pin.
I found this Pnina one while searching for what I wanted, but just knowing that it was Pnina, I didn't even bother checking the price.
And by the way, does anyone else think that Monty from Say Yes to the Dress- Atlanta looks, sounds and acts a lot like Randy from the original Say Yes to the Dress? Whom, btw, I love... I wish I could take him with me every time I go shopping for clothes. lol
I found a beautiful dress for under $1,000 and I can't imagine what could possibly be change about it to make it worth more money.
I truly think shows like these are just not worth watching.

<div>I watch them to giggle at the silly girls who will spend $21,000 on a dress and end up divorced a year later. </div><div>

</div><div>Does that make me a bad person?</div>
Until I was offered a dress from David Tutera as a gift from my Aunt and Uncle. So I went that route...even his dresses were around 2K. I was shocked! His stickers prices range from $1300 to $4000.
But every bride is different. Every bride has their own budget...and as long as we are all happy with our gown, that is the most important thing!
I am wearing my dress from 3pm to 3am!! haha. after party in my dress....never want to take it off!!
Oh! One time I saw a dress on that show that was like $6K or $7K and I found the exact same dress at David's Bridal for under $2K! LOL! I'm sure it was a different designer, but I'm telling you, it was the same dress. lol Suckers!

I think its all about your style, what you like and what looks great on you! I tried on the expensive dresses and the not so expensive dresses...for me it was all about what looked best and what made my mom and MOH and MIL cry did me in...mine was only $599 or something like that...maybe even less! At the end of the day, no one is going to be talking about how much you spent or didnt spend on your wedding dress...just how great you looked in it!
